Greetings Sorors!
A centennial celebration marks the end of a 100-year period and represents a rare and prestigious milestone. It serves as a bridge between our historical roots and our future.
The centennial celebration of the Saint Louis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is particularly significant, as it not only commemorates a century of survival but also provides a vital opportunity to propel our organization forward. This “once-in-a-generation” milestone allows us to honor the rich legacy of our chapter—a tribute to our Founders, our charter members, and the lived experiences of the elders in our chapter, who serve as “living storybooks.”
The chapter’s year-long centennial celebration, through philanthropic partnerships, service, and social action, will strengthen our brand identity by reinforcing the values and achievements that define both our national organization and our chapter. Most importantly, it will foster cultural cohesion and enhance morale among members, renewing our sense of unity and pride.
Together, we will utilize this centennial celebration as a platform for transformation, encouraging the chapter to re-examine and redefine its mission to remain relevant in changing times. This is also an ideal moment to re-engage stakeholders, members, partners, and the broader community, ensuring continued support and involvement for generations to come.
I invite each of you to participate in all chapter events during Sisterhood Month. By coming together, we will honor our history, create new memories, and celebrate the bond that makes our sorority unique.
Join me in commemorating this remarkable milestone! Reaching 100 years is undeniable proof of our chapter’s resilience and lasting impact on the community. By sharing our origin story and highlighting key milestones, we can inspire both current and prospective members.
Happy Sisterhood Month!
Shelia Jones
Second Vice President

The Protocol and Traditions Guides and other resource documents are designed to serve as comprehensive tools to support chapters and members in the consistent and dignified execution of protocol across all levels of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. These guides uphold the high standards and rich traditions of our Sisterhood by outlining essential roles, responsibilities and expectations for protocol-related activities.
Our Mission
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, is an organization of college-educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community.
▲Code of Ethics
Each soror shall regard as primary the bond of Sisterhood and the giving of public service.
▲Misuse of Delta Symbols
Sorors should refrain from wearing the Delta marks, insignia or symbols in casinos, nightclubs, bars, or any establishment while consuming alcohol that is open to the public. (p. 38)
▲Delta Songs
🎵When singing the Delta Sweetheart Song, sorors should form a circle, hold hands and sway right to left starting on the second word, “may”. When repeating the song the second time, the first four phrases may be sung as a solo as the other sorors hum the melody, then all join in singing: ”But if she wears…” . This song can be sung at sorority functions and other Greek functions. p.42
▲Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc does not have a sibling relationship with any Greek-letter organization and has never taken action to adopt the men of any fraternity as brothers.
| | | |
The Communications and Public Relations Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. promotes the Sorority’s mission, vision, values, and activities by overseeing strategic communication and marketing efforts that strengthen visibility, credibility, and impact. These efforts support programs, events, advocacy initiatives, and public messaging at both the national and chapter levels.
Within the Saint Louis Alumnae Chapter, the Public Relations Committee ensures external brand alignment, consistent messaging, and effective storytelling in accordance with national Delta guidelines. Through clear and purposeful communication, the committee helps elevate the chapter’s programs, events, advocacy work, and community impact.
| |
As we celebrate our Centennial year, chapter chairs—with approval from the President, 1st Vice President, or 2nd Vice President—are invited to submit program highlights, event information, and project stories to the Public Relations Committee. These stories help preserve and share our 100-year legacy with the community, partners, and future members.

Tax Refund: Spend or Invest
Are you expecting a tax refund? Have you made plans for your tax refund? You have options that range from mindless spending to wise investing. I would like to recommend that you view your tax refund as “income that needs direction.” In other words, apply your tax refund to your budget. Whether you use it to pay off high-interest debt or invest it as a part of your investment / retirement strategy, make it a deliberate action.
Before you dismiss this as just another plug to emphasize the importance of budgeting, use your tax refund as an opportunity to think about your options. Exercise balance…invest, pay-off a debt and treat yourself.
To help you develop a plan for your tax refund, see
👉🏽What to do with your tax refund | Fidelity for great insights. Find the approach that works for you…balance is the key.
If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Economic Development Committee.

Red Shoe Project
The Community Awareness & Involvement Committee completed the annual Red Shoe Project, a token of Love, which we proudly provided 24 care packages to youth at Marygrove. Although facility construction prevented our annual setup inside, our service and impact remained strong. Each package included: Body Wash, Deodorant, Lotion, Socks and Treats. Marygrove has a Transitional and Independent Living Program for young adults, we supported this effort by providing much needed bus tickets to the facility. Our Delta D.E.A.R.S. contributed by providing socks for young men and Proctor and Gamble supplied several products. In addition, similar Care packages were provided to support 12 young mothers of Good Shepherd Children and Family Services. The Good Shepherd facility was also gifted with baby swaddles, baby peanut wraps and bus tickets. The facility was decorated for Valentine's Day, additional treats of cupcakes and ice cream was provided for the young mothers. Special thanks to Soror Vanessa Lucas, who led the charge, along with Sorors Leona Lucas and Cheryl Peoples.
