Farmers Feed Season Begins

Soon pantry carts will be filled with fresh produce from our local farmers who are part of our Farmers Feed Dunn County program, which began in the spring of 2020. Each year, Stepping Stones partners with Dunn County farmers and producers with the goal of providing a regular supply of fresh, local food in our pantry for those facing food insecurity. Last season, we distributed 38,287# of locally sourced, donated foods out into our community.

Menomonie Leadership Team hosts "Day of Caring"

On May 5th, a group of volunteers from Andersen Windows came to Stepping Stones to create a stone path for our volunteers and visitors coming from 17th Street. The group was part of "Day of Caring", organized by a team from Leadership Menomonie. The goal was to gather community members together to help local organizations with large projects that needed a few extra hands and Stepping Stones was a fortunate recipient!

New Cooler Construction: Step One

Come late August, construction will begin on a new cooler for the food pantry but to prepare, a few other things had to happen first. Thanks to Market & Johnson and 3M, this prep work project was completed with ease. A new concrete slab was poured next to the existing garage and then the shed was lifted up and carefully maneuvered through the backyard space. Both businesses' generosity does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for their donated time, effort, and resources.

Even though school is out for the summer, Stepping Stones SAM (Share-A-Meal) program still goes on. If you or someone you know has a child 3-18 and is interested in signing up for Summer SAM, forms can be filled out here. They do not need to be attending Summer School or the Boys & Girls Club to receive meals.

Questions, please reach out to the Pantry Manager, Kris Pawlowski.

The recent Stamp Out Hunger food drive put on by the United States Postal Service and National Association of Letter Carriers brought in 5,418# of food for the pantry. Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered for the event. Special thank you to JD Outsource for storing the additional pallets of food until they could be sorted and distributed!

Another $9,000 raised since our last newsletter!

Let's keep this momentum up!

New Emergency Shelter Campaign

We received a substantial grant from the State of Wisconsin, but after construction costs came into focus, knew this wouldn't be enough for interior supplies.

Our 20-bed emergency shelter will provide a critical lifeline to those in need, offering a warm and secure place to sleep, hot meals, and supportive services to help individuals get back on their feet.
