Fall programs for adults and young players are off to a great start this month at Middlebury Indoor Tennis (MIT). We've updated our website to so that you can find all this information in one place. Visit our website at www.middleburytennis.com to see the latest offerings.
New Roles & New Faces
Congratulations to David Hamilton on his recent appointment to the Addison Community Athletics Foundation's (ACAF's) Board of Directors! ACAF is a supporting organization of the Vermont Community Foundation and manages MIT as well as the outreach programs that make tennis more accessible to children throughout Addison County.
Welcome to MIT's two newest front desk staff! Brian Newton (left) and Lewis Suchomel (right) are among the staff who may be greeting you when you come to MIT. They are also starting to help out with junior clinics so you may also see them on the courts!
Remembering Old Friends
We are sad to share the news that long-time MIT member Dick Catlin passed away in late August. Dick was a tremendous tennis enthusiast and actively engaged with many Addison County organizations and groups. He will certainly be missed.
There will be a celebration of Bob Johnson's life on Thursday, September 30 at 3:30 pm. EastView is coordinating a gathering on the shore of the Otter Creek below the Falls at Frog Hollow. All are welcome to come for a sharing of fond memories of Bob who passed away earlier this year. EastView Bus transportation is available.
On the Courts...
With the persistence of COVID variants and the changing weather, please continue to be mindful of how you can stay healthy and be respectful in minimizing the spread of germs.

Masks: Regardless of your vaccination status, please wear a mask in all common areas. Those who are not vaccinated are required to wear a mask at all times (on and off the court) while at MIT. In group lesson situations where there is one unvaccinated person present, we ask all on that court to please mask.
Court Cleanliness: We appreciate it when you "pack-in-pack-out" and don't leave discarded balls, cans, tissues, masks, etc. on the court for others to clean up. It keeps us all healthier and makes our club a nicer place for everyone to enjoy.
Also, please remember that no food or drinks, other than water, are allowed on the courts.
Muddy Shoes? Consider changing into your clean tennis shoes once you arrive at the club! Muddy or gritty shoes can damage the court and lead to costly repairs and maintenance. Plus, it's just no fun to play on a court where someone else has tracked in mud. Thank you for helping to keep our club clean and enjoyable for all.
Used Tennis Balls: Have used tennis balls you don't need? We'll take them! Add them to the donation box in the lobby. They will have a happy life in our teaching baskets and ball machine hoppers. Or, they will make their way to local rec parks, sports therapy programs, schools, and senior care facilities. Thank you!
World Record Holder!
Biggest news of the summer! Finley Molloy from Upstate New York has set a new world record by holding six tennis balls in his mouth at once. Look where practice and determination can get you!
