🚨That Job Offer Text Is Probably a Scam🚨

Getting a text that says you’ve been “selected” for a remote job or “online assessor” role might sound tempting, but the FTC warns it’s likely a scam.

Fake recruiters are sending messages that look professional and promise easy pay, then ask you to reply “YES” or “INTERESTED.”

Once you engage, they’ll invent reasons for you to send money or deposit fake checks.

What to do:

  • Ignore unexpected job texts or WhatsApp messages.
  • Never pay to get paid.
  • Report suspicious messages at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

And in Other News...

  • The Curious Case of ChatGPT’s Goblins

OpenAI shared a quirky chapter in AI training history.

Starting with GPT‑5.1, developers noticed the models kept mentioning “goblins” and “gremlins” in metaphors.

After digging in, researchers traced the odd behavior to reinforcement learning rewards tied to the “Nerdy” personality customization, which favored playful creature language.

The result?

Goblins spread across model generations like folklore in code.

OpenAI has since retired the Nerdy personality and filtered creature-heavy data to keep future models focused.

Why it matters:

It’s a fascinating reminder that even small reward tweaks can ripple through AI behavior in unexpected ways.

Sail the Online Seas with VibeSail

Learn the fundamentals of sailing or simply unwind on open water, all from your browser. VibeSail is a browser-based sailing simulator that lets you explore wind, waves, and navigation in a realistic virtual environment. It offers a hands-on way to understand sailing mechanics without leaving your desk.

Sailing looks effortless from a distance, but once you are at the helm, every movement depends on wind, balance, and timing.

What if you could learn those fundamentals without stepping onto a boat?

Here's a Cool Tip:  Sail the Online Seas with VibeSail.

VibeSail delivers a surprisingly authentic sailing experience directly in your browser, making it easy to experiment, learn, and relax at your own pace.

Feature Explanation

VibeSail is an online sailing simulator that recreates the core mechanics of real-world sailing. Instead of relying on engines, movement depends entirely on wind direction and how you position your sails.

Key elements include:

  • Wind-driven navigation that mirrors real sailing physics.
  • Sail trimming to capture optimal wind power.
  • Steering via rudder control.
  • Real-time response to changing wind direction.

Why it matters:

This is not an arcade-style experience. It teaches how sailing actually works. You quickly learn that direction, speed, and efficiency all depend on how well you read and react to the wind.

What You’ll Gain

  • A practical understanding of wind direction and sail control.
  • A risk-free environment to learn sailing basics.
  • A relaxing and immersive simulation experience.
  • A foundation for real-world sailing lessons.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Here's how to do it.

Web/Desktop

  1. Go to https://vibesail.com/.
  2. Select "Play Now".
  3. Adjust the sail angle to catch the wind.
  4. Use the rudder to steer your boat.
  5. Watch wind indicators.
  • Position sails to maximize movement.
  • Practice basic maneuvers.
  • Try tacking by zig-zagging into the wind.
  • Turn with the wind to gain speed.

fig. 1 - VibeSail Example

Cool Example:

If the wind comes from the north, you cannot sail directly into it. Instead, angle your boat and zig-zag forward using a technique called tacking.

Mobile (iOS / Android via browser)

  1. Open your mobile browser.
  2. Navigate to https://vibesail.com/.
  3. Use touch controls to steer and adjust sails.
  4. Pan or zoom if supported for better visibility.

Note: Desktop provides more precise control, while mobile is better suited for casual use.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Realistic wind-based sailing mechanics.
  • No equipment or cost barrier.
  • Excellent for beginners learning core concepts.
  • Calm, visually engaging experience.

Cons:

  • Limited structured tutorials depending on the current version.
  • Not a replacement for real-world sailing practice.
  • Controls may take time to master.
  • Performance may vary depending on device and browser.

Feature Access

  • Platform: Web browser.
  • Access: Available online via the official site.
  • Pricing: Free.
  • Availability: Publicly accessible.

Wow Factor 8
Realistic wind-based movement is engaging and uncommon for a browser-based experience.
Total: 23/30 👍 Good
A focused and rewarding simulator that teaches real sailing principles better than most casual web-based experiences.

Key Takeaways
