Silky Smooth's National Africa America Museum Stepper Celebration Party with Victor James
Good afternoon, Dance Family & Friends! What a phenomenal weekend with the opening of the Smithsonian National African American Museum in our Nation's Capital; along with a kick off celebration steppers dance party & workshop with our featured guest Victor James of Artists Motions! Our brother was honored by having a part of his video be inducted into the museum as a historic moment in time. Him and Lisa did an AWESOME job in teaching the "Secret of Smoothness and Where Smooth comes From". What a Treat!!! And to our in town and out of town guest (Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Va Beach, Hampton, Baltimore, Indiana, Jersey), THANK YOU so very much for making this weekend a success!! Your presence was welcome and genuinely received throughout the entire course of the weekend from the day party at Silky Smooth Dance Studio in VA, to Spectacular Sundays at the Elks Lodge in Maryland. Hand dancing, also known as "D.C. hand dancing" or "D.C. swing", is a form of swing dance that can be traced as far back as the 1920s, from Lindy Hop, to Jitterbug and to the 50s when Washington, D.C. developed its own version and named it Hand Dance.
