Sunshine Services LLC is a business that conducts "Odd Tasks!" We like to say "Have an odd task? Just ask!"

The smiling Sunshine Staff provide a variety of services including (but not limited to):
Delivering meals and errands
Attic/basement clean outs
Hospitality services/house sitting
Yard clean ups/dump days
Estate sales
Full assistance with moving

The Sunshine Girls also offer nonprofit fundraising for their communities. Their "Pop-Up" Ice Cream Shops, High Teas, and Quilt Shows have been very successful fundraisers for local schools and nonprofits. Their favorite events are the annual Veterans Day program and luncheon they hold every November and the "Women Rock" Ladies' Business Expo in January.

The Sunshine Staff is now gearing up for the annual Clean Valley Day on April 10th. Each year, Sunshine Services owner, Lee Minnix, coordinates with the Clean Valley Council to help "Keep Botetourt Beautiful" by providing bags and gloves to volunteers. If you would like more information, or would like to register to volunteer, please call Lee at 540-819-6335.

Experience 2021 | 3/3 to 3/4
Get2KnowNoke is hosting their annual conference this year virtually.

Information about the conference from Kayleigh Duffy:
"I've attended the conference for a few years, and also serve on their planning committee. The Botetourt YPs have partnered with this group before, and this conference is great for networking and also just learning from others, rekindling some motivation, and pushing your career forward.

Today, they asked me if I'd speak a little bit in a "virtual small group" about the Botetourt YPs, and how others can get involved. I'm excited to help spread the word about all we have planned here in Botetourt.

Please use the above link where you can read about this year's conference, the speakers, and register.

If you or any of your co-workers are interested in joining in, use the code GET2KNOWNOKE (all caps) for a discount when registering. If any of you are in school or have interns/co-workers that are continuing their education, you can also use code COLLEGE for 10% off.

Celebrate Black History Month | Finding What Has Been Lost, The African American Story in Botetourt County

“Finding What Has Been Lost” is a display that celebrates the story of the African American communities of Botetourt County. The exhibit highlights the communities, churches, schools, community groups and individual stories that showcase these communities scattered throughout Botetourt County.

Thanks to the many years of research and collecting photos and artifacts by Edward Barnett and his sister Judith Barnett, this exhibit has become an important way to document the history of the African American community in the county. Display boards, featuring facts and photos will be set up in the Botetourt Gallery on the first floor of the museum.
Submission period open from February 15 to March 15.

Governor Ralph Northam today invited Virginia students, educators, and families to participate in the second annual Black History Month Historical Marker Contest.
This initiative offers opportunities to learn about African Americans who have made important contributions to Virginia history, provides teachers with resources to guide history discussions, and includes a contest where students can submit ideas for new historical markers to the Department of Historical Resources. More information on how to compete is here.

Mikki Barranco, Mortgage Banker
3130 Chaparral Dr., Suite 203
Roanoke VA 24018

I have lived in Botetourt for twenty five years, with my husband, Stephen. My four children all graduated from Lord Botetourt High School. Their names are: Sal, Annie, Emily and Sophie. While my kids were in school, I volunteered in numerous rolls with the PTA, as well as the athletic booster club. I enjoy getting to know my customers on a personal level. They all have my cell phone number, and I am available whenever they need me, not just 9-5!

I love being an Ambassador because I get to meet different business owners, and to help them experience all the benefits the Chamber has to offer. I also serve on the annual Golf Committee.
Botetourt Living 250th commemorative posters are still available for order. The posters are $35 and the proceeds help support the Chamber. They make great gifts for friends and family moving into Botetourt County!

Black framed posters available too.
