Finding What Has Been Lost, The African American Story in Botetourt County

“Finding What Has Been Lost” is a display that celebrates the story of the African American communities of Botetourt County. The exhibit highlights the communities, churches, schools, community groups and individual stories that showcase these communities scattered throughout Botetourt County.

Thanks to the many years of research and collecting photos and artifacts by Edward Barnett and his sister Judith Barnett, this exhibit has become an important way to document the history of the African American community in the county. Display boards, featuring facts and photos will be set up in the Botetourt Gallery on the first floor of the museum.

Dominion Energy is partnering with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation to provide provide energy bill relief for small businesses, nonprofits, and houses of worship in Virginia. Qualified businesses may receive electric bill assistance up to $1000.
The SBA still has Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) available. Please share with small businesses.

If you are a small businesses, nonprofit organization of any size, or a U.S. agricultural business with 500 or fewer employees that have suffered substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, you can still apply for the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan. The 7th Annual Gauntlet Business Program and Competition: Main Street, Gig and Early-State High Growth companies will gain ground quickly with the programs.

The Gauntlet is a dynamic 10 week business development program and competition that connects entrepreneurs to business expertise, mentors and resources. Over 525 like minded entrepreneurs and 250 innovative business leaders make up BizNATION. Over $300,000 in cash and in-kind awards are given, with additional resources such as low interest loan funds, matching grants and industry expertise are available to Gauntlet participants.
