The Friends of the Waterloo Public Library $5-a-Bag Book Sale brings you the best deal in town. If you love books, this sale is for you! We supply the bags; you fill them up!


Please note, the basement will be closed the Monday following this sale, so Friends have the opportunity to tidy up.


All proceeds benefit library events and programming.


*Memberships will be sold at the door! Yearly memberships are as little as $15. Seniors may purchase a membership for $10.

Join us for a Black History Month-themed storytime for children of all ages and their caregivers Saturday mornings during February. Each week, a different guest reader will share their favorite stories!

Local business owner and author of Puffy Hair Everywhere, Sharlonda Roorda, will be presenting this inclusive program for families of all types to empower caregivers with the knowledge they need to care for and celebrate their children's hair and culture! The Waterloo Public Library and Cedar Valley SportsPlex will host a Community Walk and Talk!


You are invited to exercise your mind and body by participating in a two-part book discussion of The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown while working towards your step goals on the Cedar Valley SportsPlex’s track. Members and nonmembers are welcome.

Visit the 2nd floor of the library during the month of February to view a traveling exhibit from the African American Museum of Iowa. The "Iowa Civil Rights" exhibit explores the struggles and triumphs of the fight for equal rights. This exhibit features Alexander Clark, the man who helped desegregate Iowa schools, and Edna Griffin, the woman who led sit-ins at the Katz Drugstore in Des Moines.

Lego Lab @ the Library is back! Children, fifth grade and younger, and their families are invited to see what they can build at this monthly event. We provide the theme and the Legos, your child provides the imagination.


This month's theme is Something You Love


All creations will be on display for one month in the library. Legos will be provided by the library, so please do not bring your own.
