Soccer Field of Dreams
Dear Friends,
Today was a big day for sports enthusiasts at Saint Patrick Catholic School, particularly those who love to play soccer. Our soccer field renovation was completed yesterday, and we held a (hastily organized) ribbon cutting this morning to celebrate this long awaited improvement. Father David blessed the field, and we had two honored guests from the Fulcrum Foundation in attendance, along with the intermediate students.
I welcomed and thanked everyone who could come for the 10:00 am ceremony, and reminded the students to enter the field carefully and politely once the ribbon was cut. The Blaesi/West family, who generously donated funds for the new goal areas, graciously cut the ribbon.
Fast forward about three seconds. Naturally, it was like the running of the bulls in Pamplona once the eager children got their chance at the gate. They danced, chased, and figured out all kinds of ways to sample the new turf.
I wish I had all kinds of ways to express gratitude to the many people who made this exciting endeavor possible— including the Fulcrum Foundation for their grant, those who contributed to the Boosterthon, Felipe Uc for his extra efforts, and Christy Johnson for tenaciously moving forward with the project plans for the past several years.
One look at recess will show you the children’s gratitude for a safer, brighter field in action. This is likely the most meaningful way to express thanks. Their smiles make everything worthwhile.
Thanks for being here,
Barbara Bolaños
Principal
Saint Patrick, pray for us!

We are grateful to everyone who supported the effort to raise funds to replace the sports court turf! We couldn't do this without you! With your help, we raised nearly $60,000 for the improvement project!
With the 2022 Boosterthon Glow Run proceeds, the Fulcrum Foundation 2022-23 School Partnership Grant, the Snyder Family Foundation Grant, and the leadership of school families Chris and Sarah Blaesi, who have pursued playground improvements focused on making the Sport Court safe and functional and Alex and Jaime Harman who determine the scope of work, identify a reliable vendor and see the project to completion, the sports court now features new turf— AstroTurf Rootzone 3D3 Blend 52 which improves safety, playability, and durability, reducing torque to lower extremities with less infill spray and more consistent shock attenuation.
We are grateful for the leadership of Principal Barbara Bolaños for Christy Johnson, Development Director, who researched and wrote the grant proposals; for Felipe Uc, Facilities Manager, who oversaw the work; for Fr. David Mulholland, our Pastor, who blessed the sports court; the Blaesi family and especially the boys for cutting the ribbon and for Fulcrum Foundation Advancement Director Amy Hall and Sheila Ryan, Fulcrum Foundation Ambassador for celebrating with us!

We now know that COVID-19 is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Understanding how to live our lives while keeping ourselves, loved ones, and the community as safe as possible is essential. How can we do that? By using all the tools we've learned so far: getting vaccinated and boosted, getting tested and staying home if sick or exposed, wearing a mask in crowds, and keeping our distance.
Read the latest guidance on COVID-19. Help prevent the spread of the virus to others in your home, our school, and our community by using the calculator to help determine quarantine requirements.
