Thank you to Rent-A-Center for their KIDS Zone sponsorship at our upcoming #MB5K! In addition to their sponsoring the KIDS ZONE providing tons of fun for youth participants, RAC has been providing Miracle Babies free storage space for our baby essential items. Thank you Rent-A-Center for your support!
Miracle Babies was recently awarded a grant from the San Diego Foundation's Early Childhood Initiative for our new "Wellness on Wheels" program. This grant will allow us to provide mental health support to our shuttle passengers, on their way to and from the hospital. Thank you San Diego Foundation!
We missed you and are happy to be back at NTC Park, Liberty Station! If you are unable to join us in person, you can still support, and walk/run in your own neighborhood and participate virtually.

Miracle Baby River
This amazing little human being was born on January 2, 2021 at a tiny 15 ounces (not even 1 pound). River was born at 24 weeks due to complications with pregnancy. At only a few days old, River ended up getting surgery on her intestines for something called necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). This devastating (and sometimes fatal) disease primarily affects premature babies. Parents, Brooke and Warren, were lucky to be at a hospital where they caught the disease early. Once River's body was able to heal from the disease and get a little bigger, she was able to have her final surgery before going home.
After spending 163 days in the NICU, River finally came home to her parents on June 14th. Her parents joined our Virtual Miracle Hour almost weekly which allowed them to get support from other NICU parents. After almost half a year in the NICU they were more than prepared to bring their baby girl home. Since being home River has thrived! She has already experienced her first Father's Day and 4th of July in the comfort of her own home! We wish River, Brooke and Warren all of the health and happiness in the world!
Vanessa Ocegueda-Munoz

Meet Miracle Mom, Miracle Worker ~ Vanessa. This incredible mother has a heart of gold. In 2019, Vanessa gave birth to triplets. Prior to birth, Vanessa had to remain on hospitalized bedrest for 32 days, missing family dinners with her two sons at home, Aaron and Ramon III. Vanessa experienced a month of sleepless nights due to beeping alarms and needle pricks.
Miracle babies Elena Sophia, Evelyn Grace and Ezekiel Mateo were born on October 14, 2019 at 2lbs. 12oz., 3lbs. 1oz., and 3lbs. 10oz. These miracle triplets were born almost 9 weeks before their due date. We first met Vanessa during a miracle hour at the hospital. She had such a positive spirit and gave such inspirational words to the other families.
Vanessa has stayed connected to Miracle Babies volunteering her precious time and donating baby items her triplets are outgrowing. Gently loved items are great for parents with babies in the NICU because most of these families have not had a chance to prepare for their bundles of joy.
Currently, Vanessa is spearheading our #MB5K Committee. Make sure to attend the #MB5K and meet this real-life superhero! Thank you Vanessa for all you do for Miracle Babies and our NICU families.
