Miracle Baby Kalaya
This amazing little miracle, Kalaya, was born on April 13, 2021 at only 26 weeks and 5 days. She was just under 2 pounds at birth. Miracle Babies first met Kalaya's mom, Krista, back in April when she requested transportation to and from the hospital due to a c-section birth. After a c-section, many mothers cannot drive themselves for 2-4 weeks. This is where MiracleBabies can step in and help parents get to the hospital to see their newborn(s). It was such a pleasure getting to know Krista and her family on our daily rides!

After 84 days in the NICU, and on the 4th of July, Kalaya was finally discharged from the hospital! She is now home with her mom and an older brother who absolutely adore her!
Team Berkley

Meet Miracle Family, Team Berkley, who has been volunteering and dominating the 5K fundraising efforts for the past 8 years. Brooke and her family walk in memory of their daughter Berkley. Berkley was diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 17 weeks in Utero. This is a condition in which a hole in the diaphragm allows abdominal organs to move into the chest and restrict lung development. Their Doctor and Miracle Babies Founder, Dr. Daneshmand had to break this devastating news to them and was by their side to offer emotional support from that point on. He helped them deal with the fact that she only had a 50% chance of survival and if she did survive they were looking at an average 3 month stay in the NICU. Instead of spending 9 months preparing to bring a baby home, they spent 9 months preparing for a long NICU stay. Unfortunately, Berkley lost her fight against this devastating birth defect after just 2 days. This is a journey no parent should ever have to go through.
For the past 8 years, Team Berkley unites, remembers, and honors Berkley. They have has raised over $75,000 for Miracle Babies! Thank you Team Berkley your efforts have supported thousands of NICU families over the years.
