Spring is in the Air!

Here in New Hampshire our temperatures for the most part say

WINTER

But the longer days and morning birdsong tells us:

SPRING

Today I'll be talking about the advent of SPRING - a little bit of this, and a little bit of that!

I love this informational piece, because there are links to the calls of different birds. This morning I heard something new, but I don't know what it is!
Maple Syrup Season!

"Maple syrup, which is produced by boiling down sap collected from the sugar maple tree (species name Acer saccharum), is now among the “most commonly consumed natural sweeteners worldwide.” What are the benefits of maple syrup? This sweetener does more than make your pancakes taste sweet. It surprisingly has health benefits, including providing certain protective phytochemicals."
How is Maple Syrup made? When in season, there’s nothing quite like visiting the sugar houses in the Monadnock region where maple sap is boiled down into delicious maple syrup. Learn about the process in person! Many sugar houses offer pancake breakfasts as well. (Click above to map your journey).
Spring is a time of natural detoxification...
"We don’t need to undertake drastic measures to “cleanse” our systems. Our bodies have an amazing ability to detoxify themselves, and we can use common herbs to assist that natural cleansing process. When it comes to a spring detox, think in terms of gentle supportive herbs for cleansing, not deprivation and drastic measures."
What about those spring allergies?
Quercetin to the Rescue
"Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, quercetin can contribute to the relief of allergy symptoms [4].*
Polyphenols have been shown to inhibit the release of histamine. Quercetin does the job very well by helping to stabilize the membranes of mast cells, which otherwise would release histamine upon detection of allergens."
Some Wondrous Spring Resources
Last week - Walpole Valley Farms
Last week I was privileged to have Caitlin Caserta and Jessica Martin from
Walpole Valley Farms as my guest. I've received lots of enthusiastic feedback from that program and a desire among many to learn more.
For some recent info regarding "the virus"
On a lighter "note..." enjoy the weekend!
