STUDY ABROAD FALL FAIR

Thursday, September 18th

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Fairfield Way (Rain Location: Student Union Ballroom)

Storrs

Experiential Global Learning (EGL) is hosting their annual Study Abroad Fall Fair. There will be representatives from all programs present to provide more information about what their program entails and to answer any of your burning questions. This is a great opportunity for any student interested in study abroad to freely explore and discover the program that best fits their goals.

HOW TO PLAN FOR STUDY ABROAD?

1. Define Your Goals

Start by thinking about what you want to gain from your time abroad. Ask yourself:

  • Do you want to take Business courses while abroad?
  • Are you most excited about immersing yourself in a new culture?
  • Would you like to gain professional experience through an internship?

Your goals will help determine the best location, program type, and courses for your experience. To get started:

  • Discuss your ideas with your academic advisor during your required semesterly meeting.
  • Schedule a Pre-Advising Study Abroad Meeting with the Experiential Global Learning (EGL) office. This is a required first step to get started with EGL!
  • Use the EGL Major Maps to explore programs that align with your major and interests.

2. Create a Course Plan

With thoughtful planning, any Business major can fit a full semester abroad into their academic journey. Here's how:

  • Talk with your academic advisor about the best term to go abroad based on your specific academic plan.
  • Plan for a semester of electives! It's possible that the program you want to go on will not have any applicable courses for your major or university requirements. So to stay flexible, plan for a full semester of electives while abroad. Use the Create a Course Plan page to help you map out your sequenced coursework to see where a semester of electives might work for you.

3. Find Your Experience

Once your goals and course plan are in place, it’s time to choose your program!

  • Work with an EGL advisor to match your goals and academic needs with the right program.
  • Explore options that offer the courses, cultural experiences, and professional opportunities you’re looking for.
  • Commit to the program that excites you most and start preparing for your adventure!
