Every drain pipe in your house leads to the biggest and most crucial piece of plumbing in any building: the main sewer line. All of the water from your sinks, toilets, showers, laundry, all of it ends up in the city sewer system via your main sewer line, which means a clog can cause big problems.
Symptoms of a main line clog include multiple drains backing up at the same time, drains gurgling or backing up anytime water is used throughout the house, and sewage and other debris from the drains in the water backing up from the lowest level of your home.
Sometimes the problem is caused by flushing something that shouldn't have been flushed ("flushable" wipes, a small toy, feminine products, etc.) and the issue can be solved with a one-time service. However, if you experience backups frequently, there could be a deeper issue.
