This evening, the continuation of the millage referendum was approved by Martin County voters. As a result, the Martin County School District will be able to continue funding critical programs and services for our students and schools over the next four years.
Specifically, these funds will continue to support:
🍎School Safety and Security
🍎Mental Health Programs
🍎Recruiting and Retaining Teachers and Support Staff
🍎Professional Development
🍎Academic Initiatives
Like the measure that was initially approved by voters in 2018, this will be a four-year referendum. The final collection of this voter-approved millage referendum renewal will appear on property owners' 2025 tax bills.
We deeply value the many productive conversations we have had with members of our community during this election season. The opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives and answer questions was extremely impactful for Superintendent Millay, our School Board and our District leadership team. Martin County is and always has been a community that truly cares about its public schools, and we could not be more grateful. We appreciate the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local #597, Martin County Education Association (MCEA), TC Palm Editorial Board and Jensen Beach Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors for their public endorsement of the millage renewal.
We look forward to continued engagement with our community as we pursue our collective mission of educating all students for success. On behalf of Dr. Millay and our School Board, thank you for your attention to these important issues. To learn more about how the millage referendum funding will be used, please visit our website.
