Welcome back to the Moody Student Collaborative Newsletter! Thanks to everyone who came out RPC's Midnight at the Moody and joined in on making crafts, playing games, and experiencing the exhibition!

Are you interested in being a part of Collab leadership? Do you have any feedback on our recent events or suggestions for future ones? Would you just like to meet fellow Collab members and learn more about projects and opportunities at the Moody? Then join us THIS SATURDAY at 1:30 for the Collab's Fall General Body Meeting!! We'll go over the Moody calendar for the rest of the semester and brainstorm for the spring, and anyone interested in the Collab is welcome to stop by!

New Art / New Music will follow at 3 pm, so feel free to stay after the meeting to hear this amazing student performance and enjoy the reception!
New Art / New Music Fall 2023 | Nov. 4
Moody Center for the Arts
November 4, 3 - 5 pm

Shepherd School students are composing musical responses to the fantastic fall exhibition Laure Prouvost: Above Front Tears Nest in South (come see it first if you still haven't!). Organized by Rice student Jaylin Vinson, a series of original compositions by your fellow students will be played in the galleries, followed by a reception open to all.
Student Diwali Celebration with Artist Preetika Rajgariah | Nov. 17

November 17, 4 - 6 pm

Celebrate Diwali with the South Asian Society, Rice Bhangra, Rice Riyaaz, and artist Preetika Rajgariah!
DJ Sareen Patel will spin while guests enjoy a diya painting and henna stations, sparklers, and refreshments. Dance performances by student groups will take place starting at 4:30 pm.
Rajgariah's mural, "your potential self is infinite" is the site of the event. It was commissioned by the Moody Center for the Arts. Molly Everett, Moody Assistant Curator, coordinated the installation and this event!
Art Reception with Martha Friedman | Nov. 16
Ralph O'Connor Building for Engineering
November 16, 4 - 5 pm,
4:30 artist remarks

Join the Collab at the Ralph S. Oā€™Connor Building for Engineering Science to celebrate a new installation by Martha Friedman. Hear directly from the artist about how science and art come together in her series Floating Thoughts, inspired by the drawings of Nobel Prizeā€“winning neuro-anatomist Santiago RamĆ³n y Cajal (1852ā€“1934). Noshing and networking included.
The Last Makerspace Workshops of the Semester
There are still a couple of opportunities to learn how to use 3D printers and laser cutters left this semester! These workshops require no previous knowledge and will teach you how to create a design and use the equipment safely. Sign up now, space is limited.
