May 2021 Newsletter
You are just one vital part of a whole community that has helped people through incredible challenges this year. It's important for us to remember all of the individuals that have shown outstanding levels of hope, action, and solidarity during this school year. As problems arise, we need to remain focused on our potential to make change possible.
Guadalupe School greatly appreciates your donations! Your support helps our students recover from the impacts of COVID-19 on education. Thank you so much for your contributions to heal and strengthen our community after a year of hardships. We cannot wait to progress and create a path forward together.
Children’s Day is an annual celebration held on April 30 highlighting the importance of raising children in safe and caring environments. We loved celebrating the Mexican holiday of honoring children with the Consulado de México en Salt Lake City, Utah. Cónsul José Borjón personally handed out delicious popsicles donated by Rancho Markets to all of our students. Thank you for making our students feel special! Read more about it in our blog.
Transforming Lives Through Education
Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers have been remarkable during the pandemic, teaching both in-person and online. We celebrated them with a special treat every day. Thank you teachers for making a difference in the lives of our students. Your work does not go unnoticed!
Thank you to the many local businesses that helped make the week special. We especially appreciate the donated treats from RubySnap Fresh Cookies and Great Harvest! With the help of these donated items, we were able to bring Buzzed Coffee Truck onto campus, cater lunch from La-Cai Noodle House, and give all of our teachers a Guadalupe School mug to remind them of how important they are every day.
Super Lunch Hero Day is a national celebration on May 7 in honor of hard-working individuals who prepare healthy meals for our students every single day. Thank you for keeping our kids fed while schools were closed through COVID-19; and persevering during the 2020 Salt Lake City 5.7 magnitude earthquake/2020 Utah hurricane-force windstorm! It's time for our school nutrition team to get the recognition that they deserve!
