On Tuesday, Sept. 15, FAU Tech Runway enjoyed a phenomenal turnout and had an engaging talk with John Duffy, founder and CEO of 3Cinteractive, as he inspired entrepreneurs and the public audience with his journey of launching and scaling his company. Necessities for Children Recognized by United Nations
Necessities for Children, a Venture Class 8 company, was nominated and selected by the United Nations (UN) Association of the United States of America, Broward County chapter, as one of their UN Day Honorees, for exhibiting support for the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

Patented Technology of the Future
Guident, a Venture Class 8 company, recently announced its exclusive license of a U.S. patent from the Research Foundation of the State of New York. With this patent, Guident can manufacture technology for electric and hybrid vehicles to help recover a vehicleβs vibrational energy, which is lost due to road irregularities such as accelerating and braking. This technology can add up to 15 miles more than the average mileage of a fully charged vehicle and can be used to augment gasoline-powered vehicles. When used in a hybrid vehicle, it will help reduce gasoline usage up to four percent.
This acclaimed technology received the Research and Development (R&D) Award as one of the 100 most significant technology innovations around the world by R&D Magazine.

BioFlorida is now accepting applications for their BioPitch competition for early-stage life science companies to pitch to investors in a closed-door session. Selected finalists will present their pitches at the BioFlorida conference on Thurs., Oct. 29. The winning company will be awarded $10,000.

Office Depot has partnered with Selfmade, an online business education website for females, to sponsor 200 scholarships for female entrepreneurs. Through a 10-week interactive business course, led by a roster of industry thought leaders, entrepreneurs will gain assistance to help them start and grow their businesses.
Scholarships are open to all female entrepreneurs and small business owners, focusing on women of color, women from underserved and underrepresented communities and women trailblazers who seek support. Features and benefits of Selfmade include:

FAU's College of Business has a fast-paced certificate course called Entrepreneur Boot Camp. This eight-week course is open to all entrepreneurs and small business owners, and offers them the tools needed to write a successful business plan, find financial backing, learn marketing plans and more.
After completion of the boot camp, entrepreneurs will be better prepared to apply for FAU Tech Runway's year-long program and/or enter the FAU Business Plan Competition in order to continue to scale their businesses.
In-person classes begin Sept. 28, and will be conducted at FAU's Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses.

The Harvard Business School (HBS) Alumni Angels of South Florida will be hosting their first pitch competition for local entrepreneurs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Each startup company will have 30 minutes to present, followed by a question and answer session with HBS Angel Investors and experienced entrepreneurs.
Three companies will be selected to win cash prize awards and will have the opportunity to pitch in front of the HBS Alumni Angels in their upcoming pitch night.
