Venture Class 8 Orientation Success

Tech Runway hosted their Venture Class 8 orientation this past Wed., June 24 th , where over 60 entrepreneurs tuned in to learn about all of the resources that will help them in their year-long journey.
 
Special guests Sandra Mari n, regional director of Flori da's SBDC , a nd Dr. Kevin Cox, assistant director of F AU's Adams Center for Entrepreneurship , were also invited to present additional services available to Venture Class 8.

Venture Class 8 Company Wins Statewide Competition

Premier Virtual , a Venture Class 8 company, won first place in the Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program (VFEP) Virtual Pitch Competition on Thursday, June 18 th .
 
For five years, FAU's Adams Center for Entrepreneurship has successfully hosted the VFEP, which helps veterans start or grow their business through their offered comprehensive training and professional mentors.

DCMETRIX Founder Speaks at 7x24 Exchange Florida/Alabama Chapter Meeting

Moises Levy, Ph.D., CEO and founder of DCMETRIX , a Venture Class 8 company, spoke about the "Next generation of Data Center Metrics" on Thursday, June 25 th , at the Virtual 7x24 Florida/Alabama Chapter Meeting.
 
The Greater Florida/Alabama Chapter serves IT and facilities professionals by providing a local forum for information exchange. In addition to conferences at the national and chapter levels, they also provide for an online exchange of information through the News and Press sections of their website.

Opportunity Zone Workshop

The Florida SBDC at FAU is hosting a free Opportunity Zone workshop from 1 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 4 . The goal of the workshop is to help aspiring and existing business owners and investors learn how to leverage and benefit from new investment programs. Presenters will explain everything about Opportunity Zones from its tax benefits, eligibility requirements, available resources, and more.

The Elevate Prize

The Elevate Prize, powered by MIT Solve, aims to empower inspiring leaders and role models around the world—Global Heroes who can spark movements, mobilize communities, and catalyze positive change. The Elevate Prize Foundation will award up to US$5 million annually to multiple Global Heroes and offer valuable resources for two years after being selected, helping build a massive movement to galvanize people all over the world to do good in their own community.

Cade Prize for Innovation

As one of the largest cash prize competitions for innovatio n in Florida, the Cade Prize has drawn hundreds of creative thinkers from diverse sectors, who enter cutting-edge inventions with real market potential. In 2020, the Cade Prize will award $50,000 in seed-capital.

FAU companies won 3 out of the 16 semi-finalist slots last year, with one making it to the top 4.

Applications will be accepted through August 1.
South Florida' Business and Wealth's Digital South Florida is hosting a virtual panel to discuss Now What?! Innovation Strategies for Sustained Success from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wed., July 8.
