FAU Tech Runway Closed for Hurricane Irma
FAU Tech Runway will be closed Thursday through Monday, so that staff can prepare for the incoming hurricane. Key card access will be shut off during this time.

FAU officials are in contact with the appropriate local and state agencies. We recommend monitoring all communication channels, including the University status page and the FAU hotline 1-888-8FAUOWL (832-8695). Updates will be sent as we receive them. Stay safe!
Two Degrees Makes G-Startup's Top 50
Two Degrees has been selected as one of the top 50 startups for G-Startup Worldwide Silicon Valley.
The Venture Class 5 company beat out 1,049 applicants from 67 countries. Ten finalists will pitch world-class investors to win a $50,000 investment on Sept. 14 at  G-Startup Silicon Valley and an additional $250,000 at the Global Finals.

Two Degrees is a social network that creates valuable relationships by connecting people through mutual friends. To vote for them, simply comment #twodegrees in the comments of the Facebook post below.
ShipMonk Gives the Sun Sentinel a Tour
FAU Tech Runway startups are landing great coverage! ShipMonk, a Venture Class 1 company, was recently visited by the Sun Sentinel. The newspaper released an online video of ShipMonk's new warehouse in Deerfield Beach. The company will be opening a second warehouse outside Los Angeles this Fall and expects to generate $10 million in annual sales.

ShipMonk packages products for startup e-commerce businesses that are looking to expand. The company has created 70 jobs and was voted one of the best places to work in South Florida by the Sun Sentinel .
ITWomen Leadership Summit
ITWomen, in partnership with FAU Tech Runway, invites you to the inaugural ITWomen Leadership Summit. The event will take place 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at FAU Tech Runway.

Keynote speakers include Heather Cabot, an angel investor and author of Geek Girl Rising, and Angela Sebaly, an entrepreneur and author of The Courageous Leader. Sessions will feature CXO leadership insights, developing a culture of innovation, and a startup showcase on FAU Tech Runway female founders.

The ITWomen Leadership Summit is designed to provide women in the tech industry with rich development opportunities. All net proceeds from the event will fund camps and STEM programs for under-served girls in the community.
CEO Forum South Florida
Research Park at FAU and GrowFL invite you to the CEO Forum, featuring Amjad Shamim, 6 - 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at Palm Beach State College.

Google Cloud on the Road

The GAIN 7th Annual Shootout is currently accepting applications. Early-stage startups may apply to participate in four tracks: technology, life sciences, financial technologies and manufacturing. Sixteen startup companies will be selected for the chance to pitch to investors, win the coveted Stetson hat and receive $7,000 in equity-free cash.

GAIN winners have been accepted into world-renowned accelerators such as Y-Combinator, 500 Startups and many more.
Applications close Sept. 15.
Having just graduated from FAU with a Master's Degree in Media, Technology and Entertainment, Robin Taber is joining the Division of Research and FAU Tech Runway as the first video motion graphics and animation specialist within the division.

Robin has been bringing her multimedia skills - honed at ABC Television and Sony Pictures - to the division as a part time employee since 2015.

International backpacking trips, particularly throughout Southeast Asia, inspired her to become a pilot. To watch two of her videos, visit the  I-SENSE website .
