Florida SBDC Partners with FAU
We're thrilled to announce a new partnership to establish the Florida Small Business Development Center at  F AU. "Florida Atlantic University is extremely proud to partner with the Florida Small Business Development Center to work in collaboration with their team, the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University and FAU Tech Runway to provide a vital service for new and emerging companies in Broward and Palm Beach counties," said Daniel C. Flynn, Ph.D., FAU's vice president for research. "This newest partnership will greatly contribute to inspiring and supporting innovation, technology and entrepreneurship to ensure successful business development in this region."

How IBM Boca Raton Influenced the Tech World
The SFTA invites you to join them for "50 Years of Innovation – How IBM Boca Raton Influenced the Tech World" from 5:30 – 9 p.m. tonight, Nov. 30 at Citrix Systems in Fort Lauderdale. This exciting panel will reflect on the inception and development of IBM in Boca Raton. Panelists include:

  • Dave Bradley, Ph.D. – System Architect at IBM from 1975 – 2004 and inventor of the Control-Alt-Delete command
  • Gary Wisgo – Manager and Engineering Designer at IBM from 1976 – 1994, managed the team that developed the world's first smartphone, the Simon
  • Scott Kinnear – Senior Programmer at IBM from 1981 – 1989, went on to become the VP of worldwide products at Citrix
  • Pete Martinez – VP of Global Business at IBM from 1975 – 2007, led a 1,700-person organization during his tenure
ITWomen Leadership Summit
ITWomen, in partnership with FAU Tech Runway, invites you to the inaugural ITWomen Leadership Summit. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., tomorrow, Dec. 1 at FAU Tech Runway.

Sessions will feature CXO leadership insights, developing a culture of innovation and a startup showcase on FAU Tech Runway female founders.

The ITWomen Leadership Summit is designed to provide women in the tech industry with rich development opportunities. Proceeds will benefit STEM programs for local underserved girls.
ITPalooza South Florida
ITPalooza is an in-depth technology showcase that brings together South Florida’s top IT and tech companies. The event will take place from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Thur. Dec. 7 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Broward County Convention Center.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about new technology developments, find solutions to company needs, gain firsthand experience, and network with a unique group of strategic business partners, prospective customers, vendors, industry experts and high-profile speakers. A Night with GE Digital CTO, Chris Drumgoole
Join Wyncode Academy and Refresh Miami for a fireside chat with Chris Drumgoole, Chief Technology Officer at GE Digital . The event will take place from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Wyncode Academy in Miami.

Drumgoole currently leads GE’s enterprise and industrial cloud strategy, as well as the company’s infrastructure. The evening's chat will include why GE chose Miami as the location for their new office, what they have planned for the community, and all things Miami tech. The event is free and will include light bites and beverages.
Meet The Angels – Rescheduled
Gold Coast Venture Capital Association invites you to Meet The Angels, 6:30 p.m., Jan. 24 at FAU Tech Runway. The event's mission is to connect angel investors, entrepreneurs and service providers in South Florida.

There has been an increase of successful companies pairing up with angel investors, including Uber, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

Come connect with investors in the region and learn more about startup growth funding.
Women Startup Challenge
The Women Startup Challenge: Emerging Tech 2018 is accepting applications until Dec. 19. The challenge is one of the largest pitch competitions to showcase and fund top early-stage women-led technology startups. The challenge will take place at Google’s New York Campus in March 2018.

Ten finalists will be selected to pitch their tech ventures before a panel of investors, including Nisha Dua, a partner at BBG Ventures, Rebecca Kaden, a partner at Union Square Ventures, and Hoolie Tejwani, Vice President at Obvious Ventures. The grand prize winner will receive $50,000 as a cash grant for their startup. All ten finalists will receive pitch coaching and participate in a mentoring day with top investors.
