Kicking Off the Annual Pledge Campaign
This Sunday
“Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead us,
and bring us to your holy hill and to your dwelling.” - Psalm 43:3
On Sunday, we will be kicking off our Annual Pledge Campaign as we hand out pledge packets to parishioners attending our 8:30 and 10:30 masses. Then, next week, we will mail out packets to everyone else. The campaign will continue for five weeks before wrapping up on Sunday, November 15th, when we celebrate the Feast of Saint Andrew and hold our Annual Parish Meeting with Lunch.
I am grateful to this year's Annual Pledge Campaign Committee—Lee Gray (chair); Rusty Infinger (last year’s chair); Andrew Culbreath; Mike Delello; Kay Friddle; Patty Slay; Gregg Welborn; and Tracey Welborn—for the leadership role that they are taking in this process.
In the weeks ahead, I will be working with the members of the Annual Pledge Campaign Committee and with the wider parish to obtain financial pledges from members and friends of the parish--so that the vestry can then put together a realistic parish budget for 2027--with hopes that we can continue to broaden and expand our ministry in creative and exciting ways.
As you review the Pledge Campaign materials, you may note that we have set our pledge dollar goal at $425,000, which is a significant increase over last year's goal of $370,000 (which we ultimately exceeded). However, we have been blessed with a growing parish -- with broadening participation in our worship and all other aspects of our common life -- and with that growth comes increased financial needs as we have hired additional clergy and staff, seen increasing demands on our buildings and grounds, and sought to respond to escalating needs in the wider world.
If you have the ability, I hope that you will consider joyfully and sacrificially increasing your pledge to support our common work in service to sharing God's love with one another and the wider world through the ministry that we share at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Thanks, in advance, to each of you for continuing to place both your hopes and your gifts in service to the ongoing work of revealing God’s abundant and abiding love through the worship, witness, and welcome of the people of Saint Andrew’s in the year ahead!
Grace and Peace,
Fr. Gary+

Or considered the meaning of the white robes and colorful vestments in worship? On October 25, you are invited to join our monthly youth gathering as we explore together the history and spirituality of key parts of our worship, from prayers addressing Saint Mary, to making the sign of the cross before receiving communion. Nominations for Vestry & Diocesan Delegate
As we prepare for our Parish Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 15, please prayerfully consider who might offer leadership in the following positions:
- 3 Vestry positions for full 3 year terms;
- 1 Diocesan Convention Delegate for 4 year term;
Our outgoing vestry members, Leigh Randall, Annette Geraghty, and Linda Fitzsimmons, constitute the Nominating Committee – so please advise them of any suggestions.
Qualifications for Vestry: Under our parish by-laws, to be considered for the Vestry, an individual must be a confirmed adult member of the congregation and make a financial pledge for the next calendar year. Also, an outgoing vestry member who has served a full term is not eligible for one year following the completion of that term, and only one member of a household may serve at any given time. Under diocesan guidelines, members of the Vestry are also required to maintain up-to-date Safe Church training and submit to a diocesan background check.
Qualifications for Convention Delegate: Under our parish by-laws, to be considered for Diocesan Convention Delegate, an individual must be a confirmed adult member of the congregation. In addition, an outgoing delegate who has served a full term is not eligible to serve as delegate for one year following the completion of that term.

UPDATED: Parking at Saint Andrew's
For detailed parking instructions, click here.
***PLEASE NOTE - West End Baptist Church, which owns the parking lot around Saint Andrew's, has reduced the parking lot area available on Sundays to the area closer to South Main Street--with the back part of the parking lot (against Rhett Street) no longer available. As a result, please enter the parking lot via South Main Street. The map linked below has been updated to reflect that change.***
| |
Note: You need a parking decal to park in the designated lots. They can be found on the shelf to the left of the doors as you exit the church.
| Sunday Altar Flower and Presence Candle Dedications | |
On Sundays, we have the opportunity to offer a special dedication of the altar flowers or presence candle in honor, memory, or celebration of loved ones. The cost to the church for altar flowers is now $100 per Sunday, so we are suggesting that donations for dedicating altar flowers be in the range of $50 to $100 to help us cover those costs. The suggested donation for a presence candle dedication is $10.
If you would like to sign up for a Sunday, please see the sign up sheet on the bulletin in the Parish Hall or click on the button below. You may place a check in the offering plate with "Altar Flowers" or "Presence Candle" noted in the memo.
We will continue to only have Altar Flowers if someone has signed up and paid for the arrangements. As a result, we will need to know by the Tuesday prior to the upcoming Sunday if you would like to sign up.

Gary, & Virginia Eichelberger | | The Order of Gown, an honorary society at the University of the South at Sewanee, was established in 1873 and recognizes students for academic distinction. Two Saint Andrew's parishioners, Virginia Eichelberger and Delaney Townsend, who are in their sophomore years at Sewanee, were both inducted into the Order of the Gown a couple of weeks ago in a service at Sewanee's Chapel of the Apostles. Fr. Gary, who was admitted to the Order of the Gown as a seminary student at Sewanee, was delighted to be able to attend the ceremony and to have the honor of "gowning" his daughter, Virginia. | | |
