Join us for a memorable night of music with the full Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra!
The City of Rochester’s RPO Under the Stars is a free outdoor concert produced in collaboration with Downtown Definitely Events.
The RPO’s Centennial Summer Season kicks off with RPO Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik conducting this FREE concert featuring symphonic jazz hits alongside original compositions. RPO trumpeter Herb Smith will star as featured soloist, playing scorching solos on a program with selections from Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, and Rochester’s own Cab Calloway.

No tickets are required. Bring a blanket and chairs. Grounds open at 5:30 p.m. with food and drinks available for purchase.

No pets, alcohol, or bicycles are allowed at Parcel 5 during the event. If attendees bring a bicycle they are encouraged to lock it up outside the event grounds. All bags, purses, backpacks, lawn chairs, etc will be searched upon entry for the safety and security of all. Individuals 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or an adult 25 years or older. An adult will only be allowed to accompany up to two unrelated youth. Valid photo ID is required. Adults must accompany minors at all times. | |
RPO Under the Stars does not operate any parking but there are many surface lots and ramp parking garages conveniently located near the event. Metered on-street parking is free after 6 p.m. Please read the signs and only park in legal spots. Midtown Garage off of Clinton and Broad St has a 6 ft. clearance and the entrance is directly across the street from Tower 280. Rates are $2 for the first 2 hours and an additional $2 for each hour or a fraction of an hour after that. From the Midtown Garage, an exit stairwell leads straight to Parcel 5 on Andrew Langston Way. | |

RPO Under the Stars is presented by the City of Rochester in partnership with Downtown Definitely Events, a series of free events and activities produced by the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation (RDDC) to bring the community together and shine the light on downtown with great new experiences.

RPO Under the Stars concert is part of the second annual Downtown Definitely Events series of 15 free downtown Rochester events. All events are free to attend, including Midday Bash, Movies with a Downtown View, RPO Under the Stars, and Fall Fest, all of which will take place at Parcel 5. New this year, Play Day on the Riverway, will debut at the Rundel Library North Terrace.
These are exciting events that turn the dial up in downtown Rochester. Riding that excitement, staff will be set up at each event to share and talk with the community about the effort for a potential Business Improvement District in downtown Rochester. We will be there to listen and learn about what the community wants, and how we can work together to imagine an even more vibrant downtown Rochester. This new free event takes place outdoors from the Rundel Library North Terrace to the ROC City Skatepark, overlooking the Genesee River. These ROC the Riverway sites will feature a variety of family-friendly activities including a scavenger hunt, walking tour, storytelling, live music, and food from local food trucks.

Co-produced with the City of Rochester, Fall Fest is a destination for free autumn festivities including pumpkin painting, games and inflatables, crafts for kids, giveaways and more seasonal activities. Fall Fest will also feature the City of Rochester’s popular program “Little Kids and Big Rigs,” where kids can explore police cars, fire trucks, SWAT vehicles, an ambulance, dump trucks, garbage trucks, construction equipment, and much more. On this day, an annular solar eclipse will be visible and Fall Fest will incorporate an eclipse viewing experience. Fall Fest is proudly presented by MVP Health Care.
