ECC school supply drive supports local students

Faculty and staff from Edgecombe Community College joined a number of other community leaders in welcoming students to Baskerville Elementary School Monday morning. Thanks to a school supply drive that ECC employees had previously taken on, the college was also able to provide school supplies to the students and instructors during their school spirit event.

Monday marked the first day of classes for the students and schools impacted by the county line merger. Now, students on the Edgecombe County side of Rocky Mount will be served by Edgecombe County Public Schools. Supplies from the ECC drive were also distributed this week to the other schools involved in the merger, including D.S. Johnson Elementary, Fairview Elementary, and JW Parker Middle.
