ECC students win gold medals at SkillsUSA Nationals
ECC National Champions

For the fourth year in a row, Edgecombe Community College students brought home gold from the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held last week in Louisville, Kentucky. The conference is the world's largest showcase of skilled trades. Garrett Parker was a national champion in the Principles of Engineering and Technology division. The team of Copeland Lachapelle, Emilee Moore, and Harry Snell took first place in the nation in the Career Pathways Showcase - Industrial and Engineering Technology.

Kim Byron-Barnes, program chair of Ophthalmic Medical Assistant, recently appeared on a segment of "Here's to Your Good Health" on WHIG-TV. She and Dr. Thomas Robertson Jr. of Rocky Mount Eye, P.A., a clinical partner, discussed the College's Ophthalmic program, which began last fall. Ophthalmic Medical Assistant is the first evening program in health sciences at ECC.
