Greene Central High School ROTC visits ECC

Edgecombe Community College President Dr. Greg McLeod recently welcomed members of ROTC from Greene Central High School in Snow Hill. The students toured the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses and participated in program demonstrations including Collision Repair and Refinishing, Cosmetic Arts, Facility Maintenance Worker, Historic Preservation, and Surgical Technology.

Student Ambassadors and SGA officers enjoyed a lesson on social graces recently at Myrtle Grove Plantation. Students were treated to a seven-course meal and instruction on dining etiquette, presented by Karen Andrus, former executive director of the ECC Foundation.
Retired instructor joins Edgecombe commissioners
Viola Harris and Ralph Webb
Viola Harris, ECC staff member and Edgecombe County commissioner, recently welcomed Ralph Webb, retired ECC faculty, as the newest member of the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners, District 5. Webb, who served as chair of the College's Respiratory Therapy program until his retirement in August 2018, replaces the late Jonathan Felton, who served as a county commissioner for 23 years. Felton was a member of the ECC Board of Trustees for 43 years and served as board chair for his final six years as a trustee.

The College's critECCly stable team is making final preparations for the NASA/NC Space Grant High-Altitude Ballooning Team Challenge and Competition set for April 13 in Lenoir. The team has completed two test flights to practice launch preparation, tracking, and recovery of their payload. Good luck, critECCly stable! See flier

Construction Academy

Sharpen your skills and learn the basics of construction safety, measurement and layout, and hand/power tool use during an upcoming Construction Academy. The academy begins April 23 and ends June 6. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Tarboro campus. Cost is $125.

Mark your calendars for the annual Preservation Trades Fair on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the Norfleet House as various artisans and builders talk about roofing, masonry, stained glass, window, repair, floor repair, and historic carpentry methods.
