April 11, 2025

Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,

Last Sunday at 3 pm, our 2nd graders (and even one of our 4th graders and a couple of our 7th graders) received their First Holy Communion. Second grade is such a special year with the reception of two sacraments: First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. I love that our students are able to prepare every day in class for this whether through Religion class with their teacher or Mass on Wednesdays. I have the pleasure of giving the 2nd grade Assessment. One of the questions in the assessment asks the students how they feel about receiving the Eucharist. They have the best answers. They share excitement, nerves, happiness, curiosity and more. Many share that they can’t wait to have Jesus in their heart and receive like their parents and older siblings. The best part is then serving as an EMHC in the following Masses as students remember their “second Communion”, “third Communion”, etc. Their eagerness serves as a reminder to me each year to never take the beauty of this Sacrament for granted. Each time the minister says “The Body of Christ” and “The Blood of Christ”, may we strive to imitate their joy, awe and appreciation!

Only by His Grace,

Veronica Tucker

Principal

As a reminder: If your child has an upcoming well check, please provide Mrs. Pavlock (lpavlock@ap.school) with any updated immunizations. Please request an official stamped/signed copy from the physician’s office. Students moving to Kindergarten and 7th grade have boosters that are required. You child may have already received them, but please check with the physician’s office and make sure we have the most recent official copy.

The Catholic Schools Office and Montgomery County Health Department are continuing to monitor the cases of Measles in Texas, now with known cases closer to our area. If your child is in Pre-K3 or Pre-K4 and they have not received their 2nd MMR vaccine, the health department and pediatricians in the area are suggesting children receive the 2nd dose now to have as much vaccine protection as possible if they were to be exposed. Please reach out to your child’s pediatric office to discuss if a 2nd dose is needed for your child. Please send in any updated immunization records.
