Dear Parents of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,

Today we wrap up Internet Safety Week on campus. This Monday, all 4 th โ€“ 8 th grade teachers along with Mrs. Shamas, Mrs. Pavlock, Mrs. Oโ€™Connor and myself attended an Archdiocesan Inservice Day at St. Laurence Catholic School in Sugarland. We were joined by many of our colleagues throughout the Archdiocese to hear Fr. Sean Kilcawley from the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska. It was appropriate that we learn from Fr. Sean this week as he explored the dangers of many of the things our students may see while using technology devices. We learned how companies target young children hoping to create addictions that endanger the moral compasses of our students. This served as a reminder to all of us to work with our parents to protect our students --- through filters but more importantly through conversations and building relationships so our students know they can turn to trusted adults (parents and teachers) when they see something that raises red flags. Our Screenagers film on Tuesday evening confirmed the importance of our role in protecting our students in this way. Our job as parents, and teachers, is a hard one in this digital age. Please continue to look for Tech Tips in the Messenger. Resources are also available through www.screenagersmovie.com . Thank you for your help in taking care of our students --- our shared gifts from God.

 Only by His Grace,

Veronica D. Tucker, M.A.
Principal
