Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,

In last week’s Friday folder, you should have received a postcard provided by our parish St. Joseph Ministry. This is a newer ministry at our parish that I want to take a moment to tell you about. This ministry works with vulnerable families and youth in The Woodlands area by providing material and emotional support and mentorship to parents, families and youth in a variety of difficult circumstances. St. Joseph Ministry aims to raise awareness and share the Light of Christ to foster youth alongside community partners. This ministry is also promoting awareness of the Sound of Hope Act legislation, HB 194, which could transform foster care and empower churches to play a vital role in caring for orphaned children. More information regarding HB 194 can be found on the postcard. There are many ways we can get involved in caring for these children and supporting those families able to give them a home. I had the blessing of being a part of the adoption process. The journey is amazing and so much support and prayer is needed along the way. Two of our school Moms, Alexa Kreikemeier (akreik.17@gmail.com) and Gloria Fawcett (gloria.fawcett@gmail.com) are very involved in this ministry. Technology has brought many good things to the world, especially in the form of communication. We can talk with family and friends from all over the world. We can even care for and support communities in other countries with just a click of a button. While technology is a tool that can deepen our relationship with God and others, too often, it has the opposite effect.
