Dear Parents of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,

Happy Catholic Schools Week --- Almost! 😊 Catholic Schools Week kicks off nationally this Sunday, January 26th. Here at St. Anthony, we will extend Catholic Schools Week by a day to end with our parish Mass celebrations the weekend of February 1st. In honor of this week of celebration, here are some fun facts about Catholic schools:

  • There are more than 6,200 Catholic schools in the United States.
  • The Catholic Church is the largest private educational system in the United States.
  • Total Catholic school student enrollment in the United States for this academic year is 1,789,363 students.
  • Research shows that the unique partnership between Catholic schools and parents results in higher attendance rates and lower dropout rates.
  • Catholic School students score significantly above the national averages on standardized testing.
  • The vast majority, approximately 94% of Catholic school graduates, pursue higher education.
  • Research shows that because of a greater emphasis on homework and study, Catholic School students develop more effective writing skills.
  • Catholic Schools represent affordable excellence; there is an emphasis on efficiency and accountability.
  • In addition to a strong program in the "basics," as well as challenging programs for gifted students, Catholic Schools add the significant "plus" of religious, moral, and spiritual development.
  • Catholic Schools help students understand that each person is unique and valuable and made in the image of God.
  • Catholic School students are more likely as adults to pray daily, attend church more often, donate to the church and retain their Catholic identity.

So many great reasons to choose Catholic schools. Thank you for choosing St. Anthony of Padua for your children!
