Dear St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School Families,

As we plan and prepare for the 2019-2020 school year, I want to inform you of a few staffing changes.

Mrs. Barbara Glanville, Mrs. Mary Beth Larkin and Mrs. Mozelle Sulak will retire at the end of this school year. We are grateful for their years of service to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. We celebrate their success and look forward to their opportunity to spend more time with family --- and new grandbabies! We also look forward to having them on our substitute list! :)

Ms. Cathy Wogan will move to Christ the Redeemer Catholic School to allow her to be closer to her family. We understand this move but are saddened to see her leave. We look forward to still having her as part of our Archdiocesan family.

Mrs. Deborah Tsoulakas, who helped us this year with Beyond the Bell, will also spend more time with her family while remaining on our substitute list.

We are so grateful to these faculty and staff for their amazing service to our school. When teachers move, this can create an opportunity for other teachers to grow in new grade levels. The following teachers are excited to try on different hats next year. Mrs. Kristy Doyle will move to 1st grade. Ms. Meghan Preuss will move to 3rd grade. Mrs. Katherine Naeher will move to 4th grade.

Mrs. Lincy Jacob will join our school family in 2nd grade. Mrs. Michelle Daniels will be our new 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Ellen Pavlich will serve in our Elementary Learning Support position. Additionally, Mrs. Heather Blakesley will serve in our new Enrichment position. We hope to have the Music position filled by the end of next week. We are already looking forward to this great team for the 2019-2020 year!

Only by His Grace,

Veronica Tucker
Many thanks to our parents who attended the IOWA Parent Meeting on Wednesday morning. We were thrilled with the large turnout. During this meeting, two requests were made. Parents asked for a chart showing how our scores compared to Conroe ISD. The attached report is using data from a new STAAR Prediction report correlation and the 2017-2018 CISD scores. Secondly, parents asked for a chart comparing AR and Lexile ranges. That is also attached. We are so proud of how our students performed on these tests and look forward to continued growth in the future.
From 5/13/19 to 5/17/19:
No specific reports of illness, but there does seem to be a touch of a stomach virus in Kindergarten.

**End of the year items:
  • If your student has medication in the clinic, please make sure you pick it up by the last day of school. I can not store medications over the summer and they will have to be disposed of.
  • If you received a letter regarding immunizations, please follow up with your child’s physician and turn in the updated records before the first day of next school year.
  • Reminder if your child requires medication even OTC medication (including Neosporin), make sure you get the proper forms completed by their physician. You can find the medication forms on the STAOPCS site.
Please check the balance of your FACTS(c) account and resolve any outstanding charges. Any unpaid balances for the 2018-2019 school year will result in transcripts and report cards being held. You can check your family balance by logging into your FACTS(C) account.
If you have used uniforms in good condition from Risse Brothers you may donate them to our Used Uniforms cabinet for use by other school families! Thank you to Mrs. Veach for managing this volunteer project. Please note we are accepting Risse Brothers uniforms only and donations may be brought to the school front desk. THANK YOU!

A reminder to parents to please be diligent over the summer break on what your child is viewing on social media through their devices.

What can parents do?:
  • Spend time online together to teach your child appropriate online behavior.
  • Keep an eye on your child’s internet usage.
  • Consider age appropriateness for child’s use of technology, time spent on social media and overall reminders of family expectations for making good choices.
  • Ask your child if they know about dangerous online challenges and engage in conversations about safe technology use.
  • Children should never respond to unidentified messages on social media and parents should advise their children never share personal data, photographs, phone numbers on the internet including creating usernames or IDs with real names/locations
  • Keep the computer in a common area where you can watch and monitor its use, not in individual bedrooms. Monitor any time spent on smartphones or tablets.
  • Bookmark kids’ favorite sites for easy access.
  • View the sites your child has access and look for any pop-ups or unsafe advertisements.
  • Research online apps that monitor your child’s search engine and usage.
  • If a child is spending the night at a family member or friends ask about their home internet safety measures and usage.
