May 31, 2019
Dear St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School Families,

This has been a week of celebration! On Wednesday morning, we honored the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School Class of 2019. After celebrating the Eucharist one last time as a school family, we rejoiced in their achievements and wished them well as they open the high school chapter of their academic journeys. That same afternoon, we sang “This Little Light of Mine” and gave our kindergartners their certificates of achievement as they prepare to enter the first grade. Finally, today, at our Awards ceremony, we recognized the academic achievements of our Dolphins. All have worked so hard and should be proud of their accomplishments! One of the beauties of being at a Pre-K through 8th grade Catholic school campus, is having this extended family. When we have the opportunity to grow together for up to eleven years, the bonds are tight and our faith is strong. As we end this year, I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for a wonderful first year serving you and your students. I pray you have a wonderful summer!

We have great things in the works for 2019-2020! Be on the lookout for a newsletter this summer outlining some awesome things to come!

Only by His Grace,

Veronica Tucker

INTERNET SAFETY REMINDERS FOR SUMMER BREAK
A reminder to parents to please be diligent over the summer break on what your child is viewing on social media through their devices.

What can parents do?:
  • Spend time online together to teach your child appropriate online behavior.
  • Keep an eye on your child’s internet usage.
  • Consider age appropriateness for child’s use of technology, time spent on social media and overall reminders of family expectations for making good choices.
  • Ask your child if they know about dangerous online challenges and engage in conversations about safe technology use.
  • Children should never respond to unidentified messages on social media and parents should advise their children never share personal data, photographs, phone numbers on the internet including creating usernames or IDs with real names/locations.
  • Keep the computer in a common area where you can watch and monitor its use, not in individual bedrooms.
  • Monitor any time spent on smartphones or tablets.
  • Bookmark kids’ favorite sites for easy access.
  • View the sites your child has access to and look for any pop-ups or unsafe advertisements.
  • Research online apps that monitor your child’s search engine and usage.
  • If a child is spending the night with a family members or friend ask about their home internet safety measures and usage.
