Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,
 
As I write this Messenger note today, so many things come to mind. First, we have already been in school one month --- although in some ways, it feels like we started forever ago. I continue to be amazed by your students and this faculty/staff who are the ones who have allowed us to make in-person learning and remote learning a possibility in these times. Secondly, our first progress reports of the year will be posted on FACTS later today. Your children have done a great job! Soon, we are also hoping to wrap up our beginning of year STAR testing, allowing us to have this benchmark from which to track growth throughout the year. Finally, I donโ€™t think this date can pass without remembering the devastation that occurred 19 years ago. It seems so strange to think itโ€™s been that long. At that time, my husband was serving aboard the USS Mount Vernon out of the 32nd Street Naval Base in San Diego. As soon as my calendar changes to this date each year, I find myself back there reliving the tragedy of that day. Not unlike then, we find ourselves in a time of insecurity and worry. What gets us through each day is our faith. As we pray today for all those impacted by COVID-19, Hurricane Laura and much more, letโ€™s also remember those who continue to be impacted by the devastation of September 11, 2001 and all those who have served and continue to serve our country.

2ND QUARTER LEARNING PREFERENCES
Today, an e-mail was sent to all families with Remote Dolphins asking for the learning preference for the 2nd quarter. We are not requiring families of students currently on campus to complete the survey. However, if your students are currently on campus and want to move to remote learning for the second quarter (October 12th โ€“ December 17th), please e-mail Mrs. Tucker directly.

GRATITUDE REPORT
It is our pleasure to share with you our annual Gratitude Report - an account of our school's fiscal year finances and gratitude to our supporters each year. Thank you!!
REMOTE LEARNING
Remote Learning is meant only for COVID-19 related instances. When a student must be absent for another reason, he/she is not able to move to remote learning for a single or a few days. Remote learning changes must be approved by administration. 
UNIFORM REMINDERS
  • All uniform items must be purchased through Risse Brothers. Students not wearing appropriate uniforms may receive infractions.
  • St. Anthony t-shirts with uniform bottoms are still approved for the 1st quarter.
  • Additionally, students must wear St. Anthony sweatshirts, sweaters, or outerwear as layers when in classrooms. Be sure to order extra layers from Risse Brothers or SquadLocker before the weather gets cooler.
  • Parents may stop by the front desk during school hours to look through our used uniform cabinet.
  • Label items with your child's name so they don't get lost!
FORGOTTEN ITEMS
Please do not drop off forgotten items, including homework, water bottles, and lunches (a lunch will be provided by Geomarยฉ for forgotten lunches; parents will be billed). We assure you that your students will be taken care of.

SCREENING AND ON-CAMPUS REQUIREMENTS
We will continue to work closely with our local health department officials and the Catholic Schools Office to ensure the safety of our students and staff should the school experience a positive case of COVID-19. Please see the attached documents regarding screening of your students and on-campus requirements should someone test positive for COVID-19.

MATCHING GIFTS
Does your employer (or your spouse's employer) have a matching gift program? If so, you can ask your company to match your support for St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. You can double or even triple the value of your donation simply by notifying your employer of your gift.  Please contact your employerโ€™s personnel office for eligibility requirements and to obtain a matching gift form.

Are you interested in making an immediate impact for our students? As a school we will be working to fund Wish List items through the Fund for St. Anthony but if you would like to give to specific items, you may make a wish list purchase at the link below.
HURRICANE LAURA RELIEF
WATER DRIVE & VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED
St. Anthony of Padua is teaming up once again with the Montgomery County Food Bank to organize a water drive to support Hurricane Laura victims & first-responders.
 
DONATE CASES OF WATER
  • Deliver to St. Teresa Center on Saturday 9/12 starting at 4:30PM
  • Or deliver to St. Teresa Center on Sunday 9/13 all day until 8PM.

Please do not bring water directly to the church or the school, but instead, bring it over to the St. Teresa Center at 7985 Bay Branch Drive. Thank you for your generosity and support of our neighbors who were impacted by this terrible storm!
 
If you are 18 & older and interested in volunteering, we need volunteers to assist in unloading and properly palatalizing various sized cases of water and shrink-wrapping the pallets to properly secure pallets for loading purposes.
 
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, Masks must be worn, and you must sign up in advance. If you are a STAOPCS Parent who volunteers for the Water Drive you may track this service for Paduan Points.
