Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,

Time keeps marching on and here we are in the second half of the first quarter! I hope your students have adjusted to the changes the new year has brought and are feeling comfortable in their new grade-level “home”. I want to explain a change for the 2019-2020 year. In response to the survey sent last year, we have made adjustments to our Parent-Teacher conferences scheduled for Friday, October 11th. In years past, these were required for parents and students. This year, conferences are optional. October 11th is a noon dismissal day with conferences from 1pm – 7pm. (Monday, October 14th, is a Faculty Inservice Day with no school for students.) Many parents already met with their teachers. Others are comfortable and feel a conference is not necessary at this time. Others are excited to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss their student and his/her progress at this time. We respect your ability to determine whether you feel a conference is necessary. If a teacher feels a meeting would be helpful, he/she may also reach out to you. Students in Pre-K – 5th grade will not need to attend the conference. Middle school students are encouraged to attend. A Sign-up Genius will be published in next week's Messenger to register for conferences . We want you to have this information now as you plan ahead. As always, please reach out to your teachers anytime you have a concern. We are here to partner with you in our shared goal of the success of your student.

Only by His Grace,

Veronica Tucker
ALL-SCHOOL NEWS
NURSE NOTES
For the week of Sept. 16th-20th:
No reportable illness to report. There are several viruses going around as always, but no specific illness.
  • Please report any diagnosed illness to Leslie Pavlock or Attendance, so we can note them for the grade/school.
  • Please re-enforce/remind your children to wash hands frequently, sneeze into the bend of their arm or a Kleenex, don’t share drinks.
  • If you regularly get the flu shot for your child, please schedule the appointment to have it done sooner rather than later.

REMINDER : As stated in the Health Care Procedure form and the Family Handbook: No medications (OTC or Prescribed) can be administered without a physician’s signature, even if you have a prescribed medication with their name on it. We must have either our form or a letter from the doctor stating what medicine to administer, frequency, dose and duration noted on the letter. We must have a physician signature and a parent signature, so if the physician writes a letter we will attach it to our form and have a parent sign it. This is an Archdiocesan-wide requirement, not a school requirement.
