Here are some safety tips for those trick or treaters.

• Be visible: Choose light-colored, flame-resistant costumes with reflective tape or strips. Carry glow sticks or a flashlight to help you be seen by drivers, especially at dusk. 
• Costume safety: Ensure costumes are the correct size to prevent tripping and are not long enough to touch open flames. 
• Stay in groups: Go trick-or-treating with a responsible adult, or in groups if you are an older child. 
• Walk, don't run: Stay on sidewalks and walk, don't run, especially when crossing the street. 
• Cross safely: Cross streets at corners or crosswalks, using traffic signals and checking for cars in all directions. Never dart into the street or cross between parked cars. 
• Visit well-lit homes: Only go to houses that have their porch lights on. 
• Candy inspection: Wait until you get home to eat any treats.
