Community Forum: Yakima
The Board will be in the beautiful city of Yakima for this year's annual meeting (September 10 - 12). On Tuesday, September 10, SBE will host a public forum for the Yakima-area community on new laws about graduation pathway options.

The Board's goal is to get feedback on pathway options to ensure equity and adequacy in our policy-making.

Former State Board of Education Member Receives National Distinguished Service Award
The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) announced Tuesday that state education leader, Connie Fletcher, is a recipient of NASBEā€™s 2019 Distinguished Service Award [link to NASBE release forthcoming]. Fletcher completed her second term on the Washington State Board of Education this year after serving for 10 years. Fletcher also served two terms as western area director on NASBEā€™s board of directors and chaired the Government Affairs Committee.
