Mary Lynch, DNP, PMH, FAAN Announces Her Retirement
Mary's impact on our community has been immeasurable: as a valued member of our faculty for over 35 years, Mary has served our school in numerous leadership roles including as coordinator of the pediatric nurse practitioner-acute care specialty and director of the Master of Science program. In early 2022, when the Associate Dean for Education Programs went on medical leave, Mary capably took on many of the responsibilities of the role. The impact of Mary’s compassionate leadership during this difficult time for our community cannot be overstated. In collaboration with program directors and faculty, Mary advanced crucial initiatives to prepare for the launch of our new pathways for doctorate education. This included leading the rigorous design and submission of a successful proposal to the UC systemwide Coordinating Committee on Graduate Affairs which allowed our school to proceed with the BSN Entry to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) pathway. Mary formally accepted the role of Associate Dean for Education programs in July 2022. Since then, Mary has led the successful transition of our academic programs to doctorate pathways, culminating in the launch of our school’s inaugural BSN Entry to DNP cohort in June 2024. Thank you Mary…you are forever in our hearts and have made an impact in all of us here as UCSF APPs. Mary started to work at a nurse at UCSF in the ICN Parnassus campus in 1982. The Joint Commission Reaccreditation Survey
June 2-6, 2025 the Joint Commission survey team concluded their week-long reaccreditation review of UCSF Health covering an expansive footprint, three hospitals, numerous ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and over 100 clinics. Despite the scale and complexity, the surveyors emphasized that UCSF has performed exceptionally well, with relatively few findings when considered against the breadth of care and number of standards reviewed. A run down of the numbers: 264 standards reviewed, 1400+ elements of performance, 12 National Patient Safety Goals, 3000+ data and documentation points, 45 total surveyor days over four and a half days. UCSF has strong systems and safety culture. Congratulations to many units, departments, areas with zero findings. Learn more about the Joint Commission.
