TREE Foundation is pleased to welcome Megan Pendell to our team as a Research Associate. Megan brings an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability rooted in science, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, and we are excited to have her contribute to TREE Foundation’s research and conservation work.


Megan’s background spans local government, nonprofit leadership, research, and grassroots organizations. Her work includes sustainability program design, tree canopy and ecosystem stewardship, grant-funded climate initiatives, and community-centered environmental education, bridging research, policy, and on-the-ground action.


At TREE Foundation, Megan will support forest canopy research, climate resilience, and the connection between trees and human communities. Her experience translating complex environmental challenges into accessible, science-based solutions aligns strongly with TREE Foundation’s mission to advance forest conservation through research, education, and stewardship.

🌿 Join Us for the 2026 TREE Foundation Amazon Expedition!


We’re thrilled to share details about the 2026 TREE Foundation Amazon Expedition, happening July 20–26, 2026. This special trip, hosted through EcoTeach, marks Meg Lowman and DC Randle’s 35th year leading expeditions to the Amazon, taking participants deep into the Peruvian Amazon to explore one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, connect with local cultures, and engage directly with rainforest ecosystems. 


This special trip, hosted through EcoTeach, combines hands‑on learning, wildlife exploration, and cultural exchange, including hikes in search of frogs, monkeys, and river dolphins, boat excursions on the Amazon, and opportunities to interact with indigenous communities and traditional Amazonian knowledge holders.


Participants will also experience the rainforest canopy firsthand via canopy walkways, learn about medicinal plants from local experts, and take part in meaningful cultural engagement in river communities.
