IN WORSHIP THIS WEEK
Yet another encounter between Jesus and the Pharisees. Matthew, in his gospel, seems almost to enjoy telling us of these. However, in something of a twist, Jesus initiates the conversation about the nature of the messiah. “Whose son is he?” Jesus asks them. The stock answer is King David, of course. And they weren’t wrong. But sometimes you can be not wrong and still not be right. How does that happen? We will see this Sunday as we consider the theme, “My Lord,” taken from Matthew 22: 34-46. We invite you to join us at 10:30 on Sunday.

PASTOR HYDE'S CLASS ON DAVID
Even if you haven't attended the other classes you can still join us for the LAST class this Sunday.
Many people share the name, but when it is used singularly even those unfamiliar with the Old Testament know of whom it speaks. Shepherd boy, warrior, giant-slayer, king, adulterer. A man after God’s own heart. That’s the mystery of David’s story. How could such an enigmatic man, who is almost bigger than life, be so close to the heart of his God?
Randy Hyde, Transitional Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian, will share insight into David’s life by breaking it down into four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. From the foreword to his book, After God’s Own Heart: The Life and Faith of David... Hyde “realizes that the story of David, even though it was set in a time when people fought with swords and spears instead of guns and Humvees, is as fresh now as it was when it was first told – and that it will continue to be relevant and to influence people’s lives long after the events in today’s newspaper have been forgotten.”

Sunday, October 25th at 9:15 - 10:00 in the Fellowship Hall

HERITAGE SUNDAY WORSHIP
Heritage Sunday, November 1, is specific to our congregation as we celebrate our Celtic origins. It is also All Saints Day, which is commemorated throughout Christendom as a day of remembrance. In addition to remembering those of our church who have died during this past year, you will be given the opportunity in our worship service to share with us the name(s) of your loved ones or close friends who have passed, so we can join together in our common grief and desire to allow the remembrance of these to continue in our hearts. A bell will be rung for all those who are mentioned.

HERITAGE SUNDAY POTLUCK!
Bring your appetite and a little taste of your heritage! Join us for a potluck lunch following worship on Sunday, November 1st. Whether it’s a family-favorite recipe passed down through generations or a current family favorite, we’d love to share it around the table! It can be something SIMPLE!
A sign-up sheet is in the Narthex on Sunday, or you can also email Amy in the office (trinitypreslr@gmail.com) to let us know what you’re bringing. You can sign up for a salad/appetizer, casserole, or dessert. Come hungry, bring a dish, and let’s celebrate the many traditions that make our Trinity family special!

THE PASTOR CALL PROCESS
Pastor Hyde’s arrival as our Interim Pastor provides leadership and stability to Trinity as we move forward in our search for a permanent pastor. You’ll recall the prayerful 3-phase process of (1) finding an interim pastor, (2) performing a Congregational Assessment and preparing a Mission Study, and (3) searching for and issuing a call for a permanent pastor. Pastor Hyde’s arrival and service also signal that we are moving into the second phase of the 3-stage process. An updated information on the process is available here and should provide more information for you about the second phase we are entering.
