Join Us for Worship!
June 29 & July 6 at 10 a.m. (Sanctuary)
Each Sunday we worship in person and online. We are always glad when you worship with us. Nursery care is available, and we offer activity bags to keep little hearts and hands engaged. After worship, please join us in the Parish Hall for Coffee & Conversation. Be sure to check the refreshment signup sheet on the bulletin board and choose a Sunday to add to the table.
| | | Our Sunday morning liturgy in the coming weeks will feature prayers from Enriching Our Worship, which is an authorized resource of the Episcopal Church meant to be used in tandem with the Book of Common Prayer. In the preface of Enriching Our Worship, former Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold writes that this volume "provides additional resources to assist worshiping communities wishing to expand the language, images and metaphors used in worship. In some cases, the canticles and prayers represent the recovery of ancient biblical and patristic images." The season after Pentecost is a wonderful time to explore the different ways in which the Spirit speaks to the Church; we hope that you find these beautiful prayers meaningful! | | |

The newly revised Education for Ministry (EfM) is launching in the Fall at St. Andrew's with two groups—one on Tuesdays 6-8.30 p.m. (with mentors Brenda Swearingin and Tricia de Beer), and one whose meeting time will be determined by its members (with mentors Tricia and John de Beer). Help Share God’s Love—Cook for Abundant Life’s Community Dinner!
Dropoff July 6 (Church "Butler Pantry" Freezer)
or July 8 (Home of Barbara Cooke)
Summer can be especially hard for families who count on school meals. One simple way we can help our neighbors is by cooking for Abundant Life’s weekly dinners where hospitality, fellowship, and good food abound.
Our next turn is July 8, and here’s how to help:
- Use a disposable 9x13 for your dish, and label it with your name and the name of the dish. Then either
- (1) freeze it and place it in the “Butler’s Closet” freezer at church by Sunday morning, July 6; or
- (2) bring it to Barbara Cooke’s home (near Guilford College) on the afternoon of July 8.
Please use the signup sheet (link below) and contact Barbara with any questions by email (link below) or at 336-521-0040. Thank you for being a part of this ministry of hospitality, comfort, and care.

St. Andrew’s Summer of Sabbath and Solidarity
This summer, you are invited to prioritize the rhythm of loving God and neighbor that sustains us. Keeping the sabbath is part of the fabric of creation and one of God’s Ten Commandments. Sabbath provides us intentional time and space to breathe deeply, to return to God, and to be renewed. Whether sabbath for you means spending time with friends and family, basking in God’s creation, or simply slowing down to savor the joys of summer, carve out time to reconnect with God in the months ahead. As author Tricia Hershey puts it, rest is also resistance—to a world that is always demanding that we do and buy and become more. Sabbath reminds us that we are created in God’s image and that we are enough.
When our spiritual cup is full, we are better able to serve others, to speak out and show up. There will be a variety of ways to show solidarity for our neighbors this summer through efforts to support Abundant Life and the food pantry, call leaders about legislative priorities, wash the feet of refugees and immigrants, or tutor children who need extra educational support. We have gifts of healing and hope and a commitment to justice that are needed in this hurting world.
We hold together the inner journey of faith and the outer journey of discipleship. Look for possibilities for sabbath and solidarity in future eNews editions. We will break bread together after church in August and share our summer experiences.

A Little Jesus Goes a Long Way!
On Pentecost, we gave everyone a little Jesus to carry as a reminder of God’s love that goes with us wherever we go. We are all called to share Jesus, and a little Jesus goes a long way. If you did not get one, know that we always have more Jesus to give (and you can pick one up in the church office). This summer, all are invited to take pictures of yourselves and Jesus and send them to Susan Frye at the link below. We will be sharing the pictures and stories online and in the parish hall.

Our Pilgrims Are Home from Costa Rica!
We are grateful for wonderful experiences and safe return of our youth and adult pilgrims to Costa Rica. They shared a week full of new places, friends, and experiences, as well as getting to engage with the familiar elements of Episcopal worship in a foreign land. The photo here is of the group at Hogar Escuela Episcopal, an Episcopal daycare center that primarily serves children of single, working moms and refugee families. It was also an absolute highlight of the trip for everyone. Thank you, St. Andrew's, for your generous support of this pilgrimage. We look forward to hearing more about it in the coming months.

Pardon Our Dust in the Parish Hall Restrooms
Changes are on the way,
beginning July 7.
Our Parish Hall bathrooms have benefited from many loving improvements and repairs over the years. The time has now come for a significant renovation effort to make them more accessible and functional for many more years to come. On July 7, work will begin in the men's bathroom, which will be out of use for at least a month. When it is complete, the project will continue with the women’s restroom. Please expect work to be underway for eight weeks to complete the overhaul on both restrooms. Throughout the project, we hope always to have access to one of the bathrooms, which will function as a unisex restroom, with a locking door for privacy. We are grateful to parishioners Tim & Sally Marion and the team at Marion Tile for their expertise and guidance on this needed improvement.

Did You Give Stock in 2024?Would You Like to in 2025?
Please Let Us Know, and Use Our *New* Account Number
We are grateful for the sustaining generosity of St. Andrew’s parishioners. An important part of our stewardship is acknowledging each gift and crediting each account promptly. As you may know, when the church receives a gift of stock, the transferred funds do not include information identifying the giver. For this reason, we ask that you contact our bookkeeper, Ray Marsh, if you are making or have made such a gift. Please let him know the name of the stock or fund being transferred and the estimated amount so the gift can be reflected in your giving statement.
Additionally, if you gave stock in 2024, please double check your 2024 Year-End Giving Statement. In December 2024 we received an unexpected gift of shares of Robert Half International, and we would like to be able to credit the donor’s account.
If you would like to make a stock or fund transfer to St. Andrew’s, please use the following information for your gift, which includes our new account number for these transfers. (and please let Ray know to expect your gift):
DTC 0226
*New!* Account #: 636607879
Acct: St Andrews Episcopal Church
To: Fidelity Investments NFS
If you have any questions about your giving, please email Ray at the link below or contact him at 336-275-1651, ext. 3. Thank you for your gifts.

| | Anglican Cycle of Prayer: The Church of the Province of Myanmar (Burma) | | Anglican chaplains accompanied the British Army in Burma in 1824, but mission work itself only began with the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in the mid-1850s. The Mission to Seamen established themselves in 1907, and the Bible Churchmen’s Missionary Society, in the 1920s. Many Anglicans were Anglo-Burmese or Anglo-Indian (persons of either British and Burmese or British and Indian descent). Many left at independence in 1948, leading to a sharp decline in the number of Anglicans in this overwhelmingly Buddhist nation. In 1961 Buddhism was declared the state religion, and five years later, all foreign missionaries were expelled. From its early years Anglicans in Burma had been part of the Church of England in India; in 1930, they became part of a province named the Church of India, Burma and Ceylon. The Burmese church became its own province in 1970, renamed the Church of the Province of Myanmar when the country changed its name in 1989. | |
