Researchers Urge Adding Cultural Considerations to Developmental Milestone Use


new article in the Early Childhood Education Journal challenges whether developmental milestones—such as the expected age for a typically developing child to drink from a cup or climb stairs—are universal across cultures.

IDRPP’s Ankita Bhattashali, Ph.D, is the lead author. She hopes early childhood education programs will add some considerations to their teacher training, in addition to using the developmental milestones. Read more on our blog.

State, district and school representatives, IDRPP's NCADEMI wants to hear from you. Two 90-minute virtual question-based sessions are open to current SEA and LEA administrators and staff whose job responsibilities relate to the accessibility of digital educational materials provided and used in elementary and secondary education. Choose the listening session that works for your schedule and let us know how NCADEMI can support you and your team. Sessions are available on March 20 and March 26. Find out more and sign up!

Free and Discounted Lyft Rides Available


Get a free or discounted roundtrip Lyft ride, up to $23 each way. People are eligible if they live where Lyft is available, if they are 18 or older or accompanied by an adult, if they have a smartphone that can access the Lyft app for ride codes, and if they need a roundtrip ride for a medical appointment, accessing a food pantry or for employment.


Utah areas where Lyft is available: Logan, Park City, Provo, Salt Lake City, St. George and Taylorsville.

Parenting experiences needed


If you are a mother with an intellectual or developmental disability, the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy wants to talk with you about your positive parenting experiences. 


To volunteer, you must: speak English, Spanish or ASL; be 18 or older, have an intellectual or developmental disability, and have had a baby within the past five years.

News From Around IDRPP


Congratulations to the National Resource Center for Paraeducators, Related Service Providers, and Interveners on a successful conference! 311 individuals from 25 states registered. The conference was filled with extraordinary sessions and resources, ranging from advocating and elevating the role of the paraeducator to practical strategies to support students with disabilities.
