Delores A. Gunn Elected To Forest Park City Council

The City of Forest Park is pleased to welcome Councilwoman Delores A. Gunn as the newest member of the Forest Park governing body. Gunn, who was recently sworn-in on March 24 during a special ceremony held at the Forest Park Council Chambers, will officially represent the residents of Ward 2 in Clayton County's largest municipality. A 10-year resident of the city, Gunn currently serves as the chief executive officer of The Gator8, a local nonprofit that focuses on expanding access to expungement and pardon resources in an effort to help ensure individuals have the opportunity for a second chance. As a strong advocate for individuals facing addiction, mental health challenges and reintegration barriers, Gunn also works for Sunrise Detox, one of Georgia’s leading medical detox centers that specializes in substance abuse recovery rehabilitation efforts. Habitat For Humanity Breaks Ground For Two New Homes In Forest Park

Two brand-new homes are coming to Forest Park thanks to a community partnership with Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity. Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, along with City Manager Ricky L. Clark, Jr., city staff and several community representatives officially broke ground during a special ceremony. Together, we’re working to bring hope, homeownership and neighborhood sustainability that will impact the lives of all residents in Forest Park. Time to build something beautiful, one brick at a time!

City Officials, Staff Attend Annual State of the County Address

Clayton County is moving forward! The Forest Park team was honored to attend this year’s State of the County Address held at the Georgia International Convention Center by Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson, who gave an inspiring, informative speech about the great things taking place within Clayton County Government. From bold new multi-million economic development projects to enhanced services for residents and businesses, communities from across are coming together for a better tomorrow. City Employees Graduate From Administrative Professional Development Training

We have some graduates in the house! A big round of applause goes out to each city employee who completed the city's first-ever Administrative Professional Development Training in partnership with Clayton State University! This incredible milestone is part of the City Manager's initiative to ensure that all employees have access to training opportunities aligned with our One Forest Park pillar of Operational Efficiency. It marks just the beginning of a long career journey, and we—along with family, friends, and residents—are beyond proud of every single one of our graduates! Their hard work, dedication, and passion will lead to endless opportunities. Way to go, Class of 2025!

Annual St. Patrick's Day Fountain Party Recap

Shamrocks, shenanigans and so much fun! Attendees from all over Clayton County were able to search for their "pot of gold" during the city's annual St. Patrick's Day Fountain Party. Presented by the Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Forest Park, the annual community event featured Irish-themed music, food, spirits, family activities and more.

Code Compliance Staff, Volunteers Pitch In For Forest Park Clean-Up Day

Our first Clean-Up Day for 2025 was a total success! Code Compliance staff, along with volunteers from the Forest Park Beautification Committee and Clayton County, came together to roll up their sleeves and help pick up trash and debris from off the streets. Kudos to all the legends who showed up to help Forest Park glow up — we made litter quiver in fear. Highlights included bags of trash removed from around the city's main thoroughfares, as well as unexpected treasures found. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to do their part in helping to to keep our beautiful city clean!

Councilwoman Akins-Wells' Community Closet Now Open

If so, swing by Councilwoman Latresa Akins-Wells' FREE Community Closet, located at 5031 Park Ave. The Community Closet is open to all residents and packed with high-quality clothing items, as well as fashionable footwear, jackets and even hats.
