Commercial Interiors Gets it Done in Northern Virginia
|
|
Commercial Interiors is doing great things in Northern Virginia. We have completed the Kaiser Permanente Caton Hill Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA. Our over $8 million contract includes a 241,457 SF, five-story, state-of-the-art multi-specialty medical center. The contract also includes a 345,000 SF, six-story parking garage with 1,270 surface and structured parking spaces. The project is designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
This project allowed us to deliver a vital product to the Occoquan District in eastern Prince William County and its surrounding communities. We are grateful for the partnership with Whiting-Turner on this significant project – and for being part of the growth and expansion of Kaiser Permanente.
We thank our project team – John Legg, Tommy Thornton, Jose Gonzalez, John Norris, Jose Francisco Portillo, and Lorenzo Diaz. Their leadership led our employees through this project's most challenging, ever-changing safety aspects, which began during the onset of COVID and continued through a full-blown pandemic. Kudos to the rest of the awesome Commercial Interiors team for their talent, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
In addition to our general interior finishes services, our scope of work included specialty work such as acoustical plaster and ceilings, wood ceilings, wood wall panels, wall protection, and lead-lined board drywall.

This 40,000 SF project is a ground-up wood-frame construction consisting of a 3-building complex of garden-style apartments arranged around a central green space and submerged gravel wetland. The scope of work also includes a stormwater management pond system. The 42 market-rate apartments are modern and spacious, with tall ceilings and large windows that let in lots of natural light. Our excellent project team brought Hamilton Townhome Apartments to fruition. Kudos to Brian Leonard, Carl Thorpe, Gary Floto, Kenneth "Word" Brown, and Dwayne Keys.

Pursuing Excellence – Commercial Interiors Leadership Retreat
|
|
Commercial Interiors has always strived for excellence, and our September retreat at Turf Valley Resort was no exception.
Seven years ago, our president Milton Matthews, in partnership with Levert Management Consulting Group, launched an ongoing organizational, leadership, and staff development series for the team. This retreat was part of the series.
We started the retreat with a review to see how well our processes align with our core value – Excellence. We then targeted the top five concerns of each department. Team feedback resulted in new ideas and solutions for improvement.
This ongoing effort provides an opportunity to enhance and maintain communications between departments and explore new ways of implementing cost-effective measures and processes that will result in increased efficiency and sustainability.
