Uprooted Academy's Annual Virtual College Fair Transforms the
Future of Higher Education

(United States) – Uprooted Academy, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering students from all backgrounds to pursue their dreams of higher education, is thrilled to announce its highly-anticipated event, the "We Belong" Virtual College Fair, taking place on October 14th, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM EST. The event is free and aims to revolutionize the college application process by fostering inclusivity, providing students with access to a diverse range of universities, connections to admissions counselors, and invaluable insights into the college admissions landscape. Partnering with organizations like CollegeBoard, Common Black Application, Matriculate, and Scoir, Uprooted Academy is excited to announce that $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded to participants to act as a catalyst for change in the educational trajectories of deserving students.

Founder Tiffany Green, a therapist and expert college counselor, established Uprooted Academy with a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by first-generation, low-income students. She recognized the need for a comprehensive approach to college application preparation that reaches students with limited access to resources. The "We Belong" Virtual College Fair exemplifies this mission, offering students, parents, educators, and more an immersive, interactive experience that goes beyond traditional college fairs.
“Every student, regardless of circumstances, deserves awareness of opportunities in higher education,” says Tiffany Green. “We vehemently oppose being idle witnesses to declining enrollment, particularly among students of color, an issue exacerbated by recent affirmative action policies. Our college fair is a bridge for students in cities questioning their sense of belonging, and we affirm with a resounding 'yes!'”

This year, Uprooted Academy is taking the "We Belong" college fair to the Metaverse, which will break down geographical boundaries and allow students from around the world to participate in the event. Breaking free from Zoom's limitations, this college fair platform is designed for genuine engagement and connections. From Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to Ivy Leagues, all students can access this immersive virtual experience, featuring:
- Resource Blocks, involving discussions ranging from scholarship and financial aid to specific tracks like elite academic or athletic
- University presentations, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of various institutions, programs, and admission processes
- University Drop-in Hours, where students will connect directly with representatives to have their questions answered, gather crucial insights, and gain a firsthand understanding of what each institution has to offer
Uprooted Academy is preparing to welcome 2,000 students (grades 9-12) and 500 family members to this transformative event, promising to be a pivotal moment in the college application journey for countless aspiring students. Anyone who signs up for the college fair will receive access to Uprooted Academy's full platform through January 31, 2024, along with access to all resources for three months.
