What is OpSTEM?

OpSTEM is a support program that provides engaging experiences for students in Precalculus and Calculus interested in STEM majors and learning to excel in their courses.


Our program provides students with:
  1. a community of supportive, like-minded peers;
  2. a 1-credit Introduction to University Life course (ASC 101);
  3. assistance in Precalculus and Calculus classes;
  4. STEM Peer Teachers who teach mandatory supplemental learning sessions in Precalculus & Calculus to help promote successful STEM graduates; and
  5. Social, academic and financial support!

Again, welcome to one of Cleveland State University's top student success programs. We look forward to working in-depth with you this upcoming academic year.
2021 Summer Institute

This years Summer Institute will be held from August 9th - 19th, 2021. Breakfast starts at 8:15am, the day formally starts at 9am and ends at 4pm. During the Summer Institute, you will engage in Math Skills Review Sessions, Explore CSU Activities, a Scavenger Hunt, STEM & Motivational Speakers, learn about free services offered by CSU, and most importantly, network with like-minded individuals!

Full participation in the 2021 Summer Institute awards a $200 stipend!

Summer Institute Contract

In order to claim and secure your spot in Operation STEM, you must access the electronic Summer Institute Contract. Please be sure to read it carefully, sign it electronically and submit.
Day 1 Information

Q: Where do I go on day 1?

A: Please report to Berkman Hall 4th Floor. The most accessible entrance is on the Southeast Corner of Chester and East 22nd across the street from Arby's!


Q: Where do I park?

A: There are many places to park around campus. In the map provided below are the two cheapest lots to park in!


Q: What do I need to bring?

A: All you need to bring are a few pencils, a positive attitude, and a water bottle! All other materials will be provided!
Fall 2021 / Spring 2022 Scholar Requirements

In order to receive your Fall and Spring stipend, you are required to fulfill contractual agreements by attending events throughout the academic year.

All events are scheduled on Thursdays during Common Hour (11:30a - 12:20p) where no other classes are scheduled!

Fulfilling all contractual agreements awards a $300 stipend to be awarded for each of the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 Semesters (total $600).
