“Kids Feeding Kids” Program in Penticton, BC in partnership with the "Foundry' - supported by Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Grant | |
The Kiwanis Club of Penticton is making a meaningful impact on local youth by addressing food insecurity through its “Kids Feeding Kids” program, who received a Community Outreach Grant from the Foundation.
In partnership with The Foundry, the program provides both food hampers and valuable life skills. The Foundry is a key resource for youth, offering free confidential services.
The "Kids Feeding Kids” program works in two important ways: first, it provides food hampers with supplies for displaced youth to cook meals for themselves. Second, the program offers hands-on cooking sessions where youth can learn how to prepare simple meals. These sessions not only teach valuable cooking skills but also fosters a sense of community.

Le Club Kiwanis de Penticton a un impact significatif sur la jeunesse locale en luttant contre l'insécurité alimentaire grâce à son programme « Kids Feeding Kids », qui a reçu une subvention de sensibilisation communautaire de la Fondation Kiwanis du Canada en 2024.
En partenariat avec The Foundry, le programme fournit à la fois des paniers alimentaires et de précieuses compétences de vie. The Foundry est une ressource clé pour les jeunes, offrant des services confidentiels gratuits.
Le programme « Kids Feeding Kids » fonctionne de deux manières importantes : premièrement, il fournit des paniers de nourriture contenant des fournitures aux jeunes déplacés pour qu'ils puissent cuisiner eux-mêmes leurs repas. Deuxièmement, le programme propose des séances de cuisine pratiques où les jeunes peuvent apprendre à préparer des repas simples. Ces séances enseignent non seulement de précieuses compétences culinaires, mais favorisent également un sentiment de communauté.

Pollinator Garden by Club of Westfort (Thunder Bay) with support from K-Kids, Kiwanis Foundation of Canada and Eco Superior | |
The Kiwanis Club of Westfort (Thunder Bay) lost a committed volunteer when Scott Harris (photo below) passed away in January 2024. Scott exemplified the Kiwanis Vision of improving the World One Child and One Community at a time. As an educator Scott created safe places for children to learn and thrive. As an environmental activist he was committed to working towards to a sustainable tomorrow for future generations. As a Kiwanian he was a tireless volunteer supporting children’s projects. A collaborative community partnership that combined Scott’s passions was an excellent fit for the Environmental Grant.
In memory of Scott's longtime membership, the Kiwanis Club of Westfort and Ogden Community School K-Kids Club are joining forces with a not-for-profit environmental organization (Eco-Superior). Funds from a Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Environmental Grant are supporting the creation of a pollinator garden on the grounds of Ogden Community School in Thunder Bay which will have a positive impact on the environment.

Jardin des pollinisateurs par le Club de Westfort (Thunder Bay) avec le soutien de K-Kids, de la Fondation Kiwanis du Canada et d'Eco Superior | |
Le Club Kiwanis de Westfort (Thunder Bay) a perdu un bénévole dévoué lorsque Scott Harris (photo ci-dessous) est décédé en janvier 2024. Scott incarnait la vision Kiwanis d'améliorer le monde, un enfant et une communauté à la fois. En tant qu'éducateur, Scott a créé des endroits sûrs où les enfants peuvent apprendre et s'épanouir. En tant que militant environnemental, il s'est engagé à œuvrer pour un avenir durable pour les générations futures. En tant que Kiwanien, il était un bénévole infatigable soutenant les projets des enfants. Un partenariat communautaire collaboratif qui combinait les passions de Scott était un excellent choix pour la subvention environnementale.
En mémoire de l'adhésion de longue date de Scott, le club Kiwanis de Westfort et le club K-Kids de l'école communautaire Ogden unissent leurs forces à une organisation environnementale à but non lucratif (Eco-Superior). Les fonds provenant d'une subvention environnementale de la Fondation Kiwanis du Canada soutiennent la création d'un jardin de pollinisateurs sur le terrain de l'école communautaire Ogden à Thunder Bay, ce qui aura un impact positif sur l'environnement.

Educate Youth – An Ancient Proverb! | |
An ancient proverb attributed to philosopher Confucius, underscore the importance of planning and educating youth.
“If you plan for a year, plant rice”,
“If you plan for 10 years, plant trees”,
“If you plan for a hundred years, educate youth.”
It has often been said that Kiwanis is “part safety net, part springboard” for children and youth and education is a powerful weapon to change the world.
The past five years (2018- 2023) Kiwanis Clubs supported by the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada ("KFC") have provided over $725,000 in scholarships to support deserving students – a significant impact.
Whether via the “Matching Scholarships”, the “Mel Osborne Scholarship” or the “Dr. John Button Scholarship” programs supported by the Foundation or club-specific scholarships, Kiwanis in Canada have indeed may a difference in the future.
Has your club considered scholarships as a part of how they impact your community?

Éduquer les jeunes – un vieux proverbe! | |
Un ancien proverbe attribué au philosophe Confucius souligne l’importance de la planification et de l’éducation des jeunes.
« Si vous prévoyez pour une année, plantez du riz »,
« Si vous prévoyez pour dix ans, plantez des arbres »,
« Si vous planifiez pour cent ans, éduquez les jeunes. »
On a souvent dit que Kiwanis est à la fois un filet de sécurité et un tremplin pour les enfants et les jeunes, et que l'éducation est une arme puissante pour changer le monde.
Soutenus par la Fondation Kiwanis du Canada au cours des cinq dernières années (2018-2023), les clubs Kiwanis ont fourni plus de $725,000.00 en bourses d'études pour soutenir des étudiants méritants – un impact significatif.
Que ce soit par le biais des programmes de « Bourses appariées », de «Bourse Mel Osborne » ou de « Bourse Dr John Button » soutenus par la Fondation ou de subventions spécifiques à un club, les clubs Kiwanis du Canada peuvent en effet faire une différence dans l'avenir.

Winter Clothing For Children - St. Eustache, QC

Once again this year, the Kiwanis Club of St. Eustache, Quebec was proud to support families in need for the fifth year by enabling more than 131 children in the region to stay warm this winter.
What could be more wonderful than having fun in the snow! With the help of a Community Outreach Grant from the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada, each of the children in need received a snow coat, snow pants, a hat, a pair of mittens and a pair of boots.
It was on November 25 that the distribution took place in the Curé-Paquin schools in Saint-Eustache, Notre-Dame de Saint-Eustache, Les Perséides in Pointe-Calumet, École de l’Amité de St-Placide, École des Pins in Oka and the École des Mésanges in Deux-Montagnes.
A special thank you to the C-Tech team who did an extraordinary job in preparing all these clothes.
This project is an initiative of Serge Duthé, member of Club Kiwanis who was accompanied for the distribution by Line Plante Kiwanienne, Isabelle Matiolli Kiwanienne, Lucie Pépin Kiwanienne, André Paquette and Lucie Bonnier volunteer (photo above).

Vêtements d'hiver pour enfants - St. Eustache, QC

Cette année encore, le Club Kiwanis de Saint-Eustache, du Québec, était fier de soutenir les familles dans le besoin pour une cinquième année en permettant à plus de 131 enfants de la région de rester au chaud cet hiver.
Quoi de plus merveilleux que de s'amuser dans la neige ! Grâce à une subvention de sensibilisation communautaire de la Fondation Kiwanis du Canada, chacun des enfants dans le besoin a reçu un manteau de neige, un pantalon de neige, un chapeau, une paire de mitaines et une paire de bottes.
C'est le 25 novembre dernier qu'a eu lieu la distribution dans les écoles Curé-Paquin de Saint-Eustache, Notre-Dame de Saint-Eustache, Les Perséides de Pointe-Calumet, l'École de l'Amité de St-Placide, l'École des Pins d'Oka et l'École des Mésanges de Deux-Montagnes.
Un merci tout spécial à l'équipe C-Tech qui a fait un travail extraordinaire dans la préparation de tous ces vêtements.

New Foundation Director - Patrick Ewing | |
The Kiwanis Foundation of Canada is proud to announce that Patrick Ewing from the Kiwanis Club of Victoria, BC has been elected as a new Director for Pacific Northwest District.
Patrick has been involved with the Kiwanis family for over 30 years. He has held numerous leadership roles in both Circle K International and Kiwanis International as well as at the District level.

La Fondation Kiwanis du Canada est fière d'annoncer la nomination de Patrick Ewing membre du Kiwanis Club de Victoria, en Colombie-Britannique. Il a été élu directeur du district du Nord-Ouest du Pacifique.
Patrick s'est impliqué dans la famille Kiwanis depuis plus de 30 ans. Il a occupé de nombreux postes de direction au sein du Circle K International du Kiwanis International ainsi qu'au niveau du district Canadien.
