Last month, MCCH staff, caring community members, and service providers participated in the
Point In Time (PIT) count
throughout Montgomery County, as part of a nationwide HUD mandated annual census of all people experiencing homelessness. The PIT count helps communities identify the specific needs of the homeless population in their area and how best to serve them.
This event is also an amazing outreach opportunity to help connect people experiencing homelessness to services. Councilmembers Evan Glass and Craig Rice and their volunteer team found a man shaking in the cold near the Rockville Metro station. They helped him find transportation to our men's emergency shelter where he would be given shelter and start the process of ending his homelessness.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered during the PIT Count this year! You are truly helping end homelessness in our community.
