Lions Win MIAA Tournament, Named Third Seed For Central Region Tournament

The Missouri Southern women's basketball claimed their third MIAA Tournament Championship in program history beating #10 Central Missouri, 78-63 inside historic Municipal Auditorium on Sunday.

 

The Lions (27-6,16-6 MIAA) were led by Layne Skiles with 20 points going 4-for-6 from three and 6-for-6 from free throws. Krylsyn Jones had 15 points going 3-for-6 from three. Lacy Stokes had 15 points and nine assists going 5-for-6 from free throws. Madi Stokes had a team-high 10 rebounds and six points, off the bench Mia Topping and Amaya Johns had seven points each with Johns grabbing four rebounds and Topping providing three assists.


The Lions will play #24 Augustana in the Central Region Tournament at the Romano Gymnasium on Friday, March 10th in Duluth, Minnesota.

Lions Advance to the Championship Game Beating the Lopers 63 - 51

The Missouri Southern women's basketball program advanced to the MIAA Tournament championship game after beating number one seeded Nebraska - Kearney, 63-51 on Saturday inside historic Municipal Auditorium.


The Lions (26-6, 16-6 MIAA) were led by Lacy Stokes with 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Amaya Johns had 11 points off the bench and collected eight rebounds, Madi Stokes had 12 rebounds, eight points and two blocks. Quick Start & Hustle Plays Key In 75 - 61 Win Over Gorillas

The Missouri Southern women's basketball program picked up a resounding 75-61 win over rival Pittsburg State in the MIAA Quarterfinals on Friday inside historic Municipal Auditorium.


The Lions (25-6, 16-6 MIAA) were led by Lacy Stokes with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kaitlin Hunnicutt had 16 points going 4-for-5 from three, Madi Stokes grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and scored six points. Amaya Johns led the bench with 11 points and seven rebounds. Lions Beat Riverhawks to Begin MIAA Tournament

The Missouri Southern men's basketball program knocked off Northeastern State 70-60 to begin the MIAA Tournament Wednesday from historic Municipal Auditorium.


The Lions (17-12, 12-10 MIAA) were led by Vinson Sigmon Jr. with 21 points going 5-of-8 from three and grabbing five rebounds, Sam Thompson posted his first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Lawson Jenkins led the bench with 10 points as Winston Dessesow and Isaiah Holden each provided three assists. Lions Extend Win Streak to Seven, Blackney Wins 100th Game

The Missouri Southern softball program went 5-0 in the Lion Classic this year with wins over Rockhurst, Southwest Baptist, Truman State and Missouri S&T inside the Pat Lipira Softball Complex.


Southern (14-5) got things started with a run rule 10-2 victory over Rockhurst (3-8) followed. by a 4-2 win over Southwest Baptist (5-11) to end the day on Saturday. For Sunday the Lions played Truman State (3-11) coming away with 14-5 and 10-2 run rule victories over the Bulldogs. On Monday the Lions ended with a 6-2 win over Missouri S&T (8-9) which marked coach Hallie Blackney's 100th win as the Lions coach doing so in 180 games. In program history only three coaches have eclipsed 100 career wins with Pat Lipira needing only 175 games and Bill Gray needing 250 to reach the achievement. Lions Claim Series Against Bearcats

The Missouri Southern baseball program came away victorious 14-11 in game two of the three game series against Northwest Missouri from Bearcat Baseball Field on Saturday, the win marks back-to-back series wins against MIAA competition to begin the conference slate.


Southern (13-5, 4-1 MIAA) was led by Henry Kusiak with four RBIs, Will DohertyDrew Davis and Garrett Rice had two RBIs. Doherty went 4-for-5 and Rice went 3-for-5 with both scoring two runs. Cole Gayman picked up his third win of the season with 3.0 innings in releif with three strikeouts as Laif Hultine notched his first save of the season with a shutout ninth inning and one strikeout. Lions Hit Five Homers In Series Opening Win

The Missouri Southern baseball program picked up an 11-5 win in the three game series opener against Northwest Missouri at Bearcat Baseball Field.


The Lions (12-5, 3-1 MIAA) were led by Treghan Parker with two home runs going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and scored four runs himself. Matt MillerTyler Ferguson and Chayton Beck hit homers and Will Doherty along with Beck collected two RBIs. Cole Woods picked up his third win of the season after 5.2 innings of work and five strikeouts, Kyle Moore came in for 3.0 innings and struck out three with Jeremiah Kennedy closing out the game.
