COUNCIL MEMBER RODRIGUEZ STATEMENT ON BABY HOPE CASE DEVELOPMENTS

New York, NY-- With today's news announcing the arrest of a suspect in the 22 year old "Baby Hope" cold case, Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez had this to say:

"22 years after one of the most horrific crimes ever to take place in our community, we are now one step closer to closure in the Baby Hope case. With today's arrest, I hope that the family of recently identified Angelica Ramirez and all others affected by this tragedy that have waited so long for justice, will feel comfort, if only just a little. This news is a testament to the relentless work of the detectives of the NYPD, who have been so vigilant over these two past decades. We are grateful for their work and for all others who came forward to help piece together a crime that just weeks ago seemed unsolvable. Thankfully during the past 22 years our community has transformed itself into one of the safest in the city, to the extent that there has not been one homicide in the entire 34th precinct. We must continue this trend as we move forward so that Northern Manhattan continues to be one of the best places to live in New York City."
