CEC Early College

Staff Bulletin
4/22/2022

The week's most important information, organized and distilled for your review.
(new) Do you have students leaving class and not returning?
Here are the steps to take if this is something you experience:
  1. Call Jessica at extension 36672 and report the student.
  2. Jessica will then radio the leadership team to try and track students down.
  3. Student will be marked by Jessica as truant if they have had multiple incidents.

These steps help us identify frequent flyers from class more easily than changing attendance, it also allows us to know that the student was here, but they are no longer in class or even in the building. It also allows us to reach out to home as soon as possible, to let parents/guardians know.
(new) Field Trip Reminders and Information
Please see below for all field trip steps and information!
  • This document outlines those steps.
  • In consideration for all teachers/coursework, please ensure that student permission forms are given to students at least 2 weeks prior to the field trip, so teachers can make a plan for their students while they are out.
  • Many of our classes core and CTE have college credit/curriculum embedded and the minimum amount of minutes could be compromised if students miss too much class time.
  • This link will take you to the folder with all excursion paperwork for CEC.
  • Please note there are no excursions granted in the month of May unless you leave and return within your class period only.
  • If deadlines are not met, the excursions will be canceled.

(new) Incident Update 4/21
It is our priority to keep you informed of incidents relating to building safety.

Yesterday, a CEC student had a drink knocked out of his hands and was pushed by an unknown male who exited a maroon Chevy Tahoe on the West side of campus and approached our student aggressively yelling verbal gang taunts. We believe this incident occurred because of increased gang activity in the neighborhood and because our student was wearing predominantly red. Our CEC students present disengaged from the individual and entered the building safely. DPD and DPS Safety and Security responded to the incident and the involved vehicle was identified.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out a member of our leadership team.
